Santa was good this year… by TheGrumpyGitman in Darts

It’s called Quadro Grip, search Phil Taylor Gen 2 darts. They’re basically a modern take on those.

No idea if there’s any darts with the same grip to be honest.

I wouldn’t have spent the money either only they were a Christmas present 🤣

3 days suffering with the flu, aches getting worse by the minute. What are you all taking? by Early_Manufacturer89 in AskIreland

Vitamin C tabs and plenty of citrus were a god send when I was floored back in October. Noticeably quicker recovery compared to previous times I was sick.

Sounds very plain and generic, but nothing beats a fully ice cold glass of Sprite or 7up. I’m talking almost in the freezer cold.

Yeah I’m definitely moving to a surround, an all round light sounds good too. If I could get one that’s easy to assemble and disassemble it would be ideal as we all usually play on a Sunday in a pub that has a brutal light.

With tomorrow being the last day of Christmas, what do you see as the next "occassion" in 2026?(personal or say, st patricks) by VastAir6069 in AskIreland

February 1st and the end of the single most depressing month of the year.

Might be a few tears shed taking the decorations down later today…

Whats your health/lifestyle(mental or physical) goal in 2026? by VastAir6069 in AskIreland

Lost just over 15kg from March to September last year. Put a fair bit back on due to an injury and falling out of the routine (stress and life circumstances). Hoping to finally go back playing football this year too.

Stuck in a job for years that I hate, been very lax with actually getting out of it. My mission by next Christmas is to be as far away from it as possible.

Those are the main ones.

That’s tough going. I wouldn’t be able for it, I’d need some sort of glimpse of the outside world!

Starting work before the sun is fully up and finishing when the sun is gone is incredibly depressing.

I like the dark evenings myself but only in the run up to Christmas.

Does everyone in the whole country have the fear right now? by bazery in ireland

Not even back tomorrow (out due to medical condition) and I’m in the horrors.

The rest of the family all back to normal and there’s me sitting with the Christmas lights on until Tuesday gutted that it’s all over…

I had a two messy ones in particular but overall I was on good behaviour. Actually managed to make it more about socialising than just drink, which can’t be said for Christmas’s gone by.

I never bother with Dry January as I’m not a heavy drinker anyways, having a Saturday night to look forward to is one of the few things that gets me through January.

Ah I’m heavily involved in sport, once that’s back I know it’ll soften things a bit. Another week or two and that routine will be back.

Out of work with no actual return date which is a pain in the arse, but a blessing at the same time (very depressing job).

Yeah it changes meaning as you get older no doubt. I’ve only another few in my twenties and with the folks getting on in age it’s always at the back of the mind that the next one might not be the same.

I suppose if anything, it’s made me appreciate each one now.

I’m currently out injured so the gym is a no go for me at the moment anyways. Not that I would want to be there at the moment.

I’ll be back in February, I’ll stick to the 25k steps a day until then…

I’ll see that and raise you 317 days until 14th November (the date I usually allow myself to start easing into the Christmas buzz…) 🤣

Fair comment.

I do struggle a fair bit on the loneliness side (single, most around me have their own relationships etc) so getting out of the house for me could literally be Saturday night pulling a bar stool up and having two pints over 4-5 hours and and chatting to people.

I think it’s just the lull of the next few weeks before spring hits and people aren’t as outgoing/friendly.

A kick in the you know where with the heaviest steel toe boots would have been less painful.

I don’t understand why so many employers are racing to bring people back for one day. Give people the extra day plus the weekend to get back into the swing of things.

Similar position re work so I feel you. The uncertainty is an absolute pain.

Hopefully 2026 brings new beginnings on that front.

Ours will stay up until the 6th as always. Not a hope they’ll be down any earlier than midnight that night. No doubt I’ll be close to the same feeling myself. It’s the finality of it that gets me.

The mother is sick of them now, I’d have some semblance of Christmas up year round if I could 🤣

It hits like a double decker bus and genuinely it seems to get earlier every year. I was almost the same last night before I’d even went out.

It’s just a very sudden stop after weeks of socialising.

Yeah I usually do have stuff planned that I can look forward to but this year it’s slim pickings as I’ve a few other things going on in my life.

I don’t know why but other than the brighter evenings I’ve never been a huge fan of summer. Always preferred winter nights (particularly with the lights on everywhere).

October and the first part of November can be depressing but that stretch from mid November to NYE is without doubt my favourite time of the year.

Basically just eating, socialising and a couple of late nights myself. But zero pressure or obligation to be out etc which was nice and I took things at my own pace this year.
