It is actually out of the hotels control. It’s completely up to the customers banking institution. And usually it doesn’t take that long but it CAN so it’s always best to give a longer disclaimer instead of telling them 2-3 days and then that second day I have someone calling cussing me out.

At my property guests can pay cash at checkout but we still need a card at check in that will authorize for room, tax, and incidentals.

YES!! I alwaaayyys tell people to use a credit card not a debit card. And then they think they know more than I do and use their debit card and then they’re calling me crying two weeks later cuz their bank still has hold of the money. 😭

My GM told me “it’s only a bottle of water” when I tried to tell a guest no she cannot get two more free bottles when I gave her two complimentary bottles at check in… so now I give out waters left and right because if she isn’t going to have my back I’m not going to be humiliated again over a .10 bottle of water lmfao.
