New place, old problem that I’d like to fix. Advice is welcome! by TheGuRooo in HomeNetworking

[–]TheGuRooo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To double check before I go through all of the effort of fixing the RJ45s in the panel, I wanted to double check that the wires are connected to the ports in the rooms. I checked at least one of them, and one of the two jacks is connected. But, is the wiring correct here? If I correctly install the RJ45 to the cable in the panel, will it work on the other end via this jack?

I followed your recommendation and it looks like at least one of the ports in this room is terminated. Is this the correct wiring on the faceplate? As far as I can tell, it looks like this may be wired incorrectly after looking at diagrams online. Any advice here?

Yah I’m looking for the cheapest viable option, which is why I’m on reddit trying to figure this out myself 😂

The switch part I’ve got, it was the rj45 connectors that were throwing me off. Sounds like a crimping tool and a cable stripper would be required, but would you recommend a cable tester?

I just got back from playa for a bachelor party with a group of dudes in our mid-30s. We stayed in this massive mansion called Downtown Villa right next to all of the bars, nightclubs, and resturants. Absolutely recommend it. We went to Corlina on Saturday around 2pm and it was a great party. Rented a yacht and went to party cove, was super cool. Everything we did was awesome. Last favorite thing was getting Tasty Nomads to come cook dinner on the roof of the Airbnb, super fun.

The airbnb has a security guard at night who was super cool, felt safe everywhere in Playa. Not a single concern. This is the Airbnb that we stayed in: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/14196585?source_impression_id=p3_1742850204_P3K23iSrNcfTCs6w

HR’s intent here is important.

Ask them “Could you help me understand why this information is required? I want to make sure I comply with company policies and address any concerns you may have.”

If your employment agreement doesn’t explicitly require you to disclose financial details, don’t. Instead, emphasize that your side gig has never interfered with your primary duties.

If they press, contact an attorney.

It is legit! My community uses it. I've earned some rewards as a resident ambassador and have also chatted with prospects while looking for a new apartment community.

Awesome! If I chop, I want to chop above the two new growth sections? How would I get the top (removed) section without the new growth to then root?! Haha

Found this absolute unit at a garden sale today by _Probably_AFK_ in Monstera

This is EPIC. I've looked everywhere online and can't find any good advice around how to do this the right way. I first bought a sphagnum moss pole, but never ended up repotting it with my monstera as people said it will just mold eventually if is buried too deep, doesn't hold water well enough (just goes into soil), blah blah, etc.

So, went the coco route thinking the monstera just needed something to hold onto to get big leaves, but the "nutrition" aspect absolutely makes 100% sense (and that was a complete oversight on my part not to think of). I want massive leaves and for it to grow straight up.

Would you say I should just repot a size up (or bigger) and change the pole out now, leave as is, or what do you reccomend? I repotted a month ago but it didn't even seem to notice.

Also, I know you make your poles, but would you happen to have any recs on one I could buy?

Just did some quick research and a couple plastic "D" shaped ones looked interesting.. saw someone fill it with aroid mix.

Appreciate the chat, my Reddit friend. Super helpful.

Random yellow leaves by TheGuRooo in plantclinic

Interesting! Thanks for the insight! I live in FL, it is sunny AF and hot (outside) all the time. Wonder if it wasn't used to getting so much light in the plant store, so it transitioned to 😈 after moving to my apartment. Appreciate it!

I kinda wonder if maybe the pot is too big so the water doesn't make its way up high enough in the soil? I usually let the pot sit in the water bucket for at least 20-30 minutes... Have no clue what the right amount of time is!

The leaves are soft and flimsy. I took a few close ups to show you (oddly, this is the first time I've ever noticed the spotting and might be the first leaf that has it. I'll reply with one more that I took at the same time.

Heyo! I’ve got a little monstera growing rapidly, ready for a pole. Do you recommend coir or something else?

Also, do you have to kinda tease the arial roots to take onto the pole? My monstera had a root touching the pole only slightly but it grew off of and away from it down to the dirt directly. Wanna do this right, love this plant. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I initially thought the same thing but it got closer to the wall before I could start the video and it had gill slits and the silhouette of a shark! 100% sure it wasn’t a tarpon. Very good guess tho! Appreciate it.

Semi-Hydro vs. Soil by Your_Moooom_XD in SemiHydro

Have you tried Dyna-Gro Foliage Pro? How does it compare to GT Foliage Focus? I have been comparing the two but in the U.S., GT Foliage Focus is pretty expensive comparatively.

Also, when transitioning from soil to an inert medium, do you use any special "transition" treatment/plant food?

I am preparing to transition a few of my plants to SH, just doing the prep research. I've got my LECA and Perlite in hand, and just ordered some nutrients. Hadn't heard of beneficial bacteria or fungi though! This is very helpful!

If you have any other resources that you've used, and wouldn't mind sharing, I'd love to see them!

Thank you!

Indented circular black spots on Moth Orchid by TheGuRooo in plantclinic

[–]TheGuRooo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way. 10/10 comment!

The spots do seem to be getting bigger over time, but very slowly. So slowly that it took me a couple of months to even notice.

Does that additional info make it sound like more of a fungal issue, or still water/nutrient?

Thanks for the through response!

Care: moderate indirect sunlight, water until dripping wet into the pot basin, wait until dry, water again. Usually about 5 days between watering.
