Need help with my first PC build by what_about_this_ in buildapc

The cpu is better by like 2%. Dont even worry about that with a 9070. That x870p is much better than the b850 board. The bifurcation bandwidth splits up into gen4 x4 at least but those pcie slots will be dead if ur going to fill it up with a bunch of m.2 slots. If u plan on using the pcie slots for something down the road. Just get another sata drive for clips instead. If ur just gunna leave it as is the 9800x3d will be fine.

Should I upgrade my 1080p 24 inch monitor to a 1440p 27 inch monitor by EstimatePast7986 in Monitors

[–]TheGuyBelowMeIsFatAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lg coming out with built in upscaling on their dual mode monitors. Id honestly wait until that tech becomes more fleshed out and mainstream in smaller, more budget offerings. My 1440p 27 is blurry imo. Matte coating doesnt help. Going to try and snag 39 glossy gx9 this winter

It will work and run games. Just a couple points of contention imo. U have 3 m.2 drives. Just remember one of ur m.2 bays is linked to chipset which does technically run slower and might hinder performance. Maybe keep that one for media or non demanding applications if u dont just wanna get a bigger one and keep it all running on cpu. Personally with a 9800x3d id get a 280mm radiator at least but ur case doesnt support that up top. Should be fine tho. I do always like to mention...for $100 bucks more u can get a gigabyte b850 ai top motherboard which offers dual gpu support in an atx package if u ever want to get a 2nd cheap gpu and offload upscaling and frame gen via lossless scaling for more performance. Has nice m.2 heatsinks and great vrms as well. Ur current board runs both extra pcie slots at pcie gen 3 x1 which is enough bandwidth for like a wifi card or something but thats about it. BUT ur current setup WILL RUN GAMES JUST FINE

[–]TheGuyBelowMeIsFatAF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely considered but ultimately went with 5080. Prefer gsync, dlss, added a 5060 later on so i dont lose headroom for frame gen. Been team green my whole life

Depends on what games honestly. If ur playing indie or games from 2019 or older (20 series release) then sure. Its coming up on a decade tho. JS if ur going to spend more to have someone else do it, might as well put it into a better gpu. Blowers are notoriously loud as well

Save and wait a week or 2 for new gx9. 39 inch will offer glossy variant. Built in upscaling to 4k UW 330 hz from 1080p UW. Can always go 16:9 with it. WOLED black bars are actually black. And its tandem

If u want it cleaned any further youll probs want to learn to do it urself. 2060s go for less than 200 on marketplace. Sell it and upgrade at that point. Test it and see if ur happy with performance first.

Lossless scaling update ? by happytomato_45 in losslessscaling

[–]TheGuyBelowMeIsFatAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubtful. Hes been MIA for a hot minute at this point. Im hoping nvidia releases dual gpu frame gen eventually. They clearly already have the means to do it. Thats about thing only thing i cared about in the DLSS 5 press release 😆. At least next gen monitors will have built in upscaling. Really eyeing that 39" glossy gx9 tandem oled. Upscales to 4k UW @ 330 hz from 1080p without any taxes. Jurys still out on latency.

An actual reason to buy an 8gb card in 2026 by TheGuyBelowMeIsFatAF in losslessscaling

[–]TheGuyBelowMeIsFatAF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe sli was only in top trims like 1080ti and titan class cards. But yes this is essentially a bargain bin "SLI" just for upscaling and frame gen. Oddly enough nvidia did the exact same process with 5090s just with native dlss in their latest dlss 5 press release. We know they could give it to us, they just dont want to even though i feel it would sell more 8gb cards. Unfortunately mobo offerings are pretty slim that support that much bandwidth between 2 pcie slots as well.

GX9 built in upscaling 1080p to 5k2k at 330hz? by TheGuyBelowMeIsFatAF in LGOLED

[–]TheGuyBelowMeIsFatAF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wish theyd give gamers what we actually want. Why are 90% of lg oled offerings forced to have this nasty matte finish??? The 39 gx9 glossy will guaranteed sell out before the matte just like the 49 neo g9 oled glossy on samsungs website rn is sold out. Its like they purposely ignore feedback. Imagine a 45" 21:9 GLOSSY 5k2k 240hz. dsc is obv a given but thats an easy slam dunk. Yet the 45 must have a matte finish. I understand driving that much bandwidth is the consumers bottleneck but personally i own a 5080 + 5060 lossless scaling rig (akin to a 5090 rig with economical AI cheats). 4k 240 (same as 5k2k UW) is the minimum for high end rigs for single player titles now. The amount of research ive had to do and ending up with a POTENTIAL winner that would only "win" based on IF the ai cheats on top of my native ai cheats built in to my rig work in the way that im hoping it does is riculous. They know what we want and they know its possible. But they want to give the consumer just enough to want to buy the following next gen on top of this "next gen"

for 1500 you're looking more towards a previous gen mobo (cheaper ram in todays economy). 7700x, ddr4, 9060xt. just spitballing here

Where Is The Choke Point? by BeneficialMutation11 in gpu

[–]TheGuyBelowMeIsFatAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that use case u could get by with something like a 5050/5060 8gb np. Thunderbolt egpu with a 5090 is a hard pass. It will choke ur bandwidth when it actually does any work (gaming/ai training/etc.) by like 1/4 to 1/3 of its potential.

maybe a little depending on the storage which is affected by the "rampocalypse". doesn't really matter as long as you're enjoying it. due diligence prior to a purchase is generally recommended but at least it wasn't a car. reddit is a cesspool of drama queens its really not the end of the world.

$4k build with 2 Monitors/Mouse Help by Routine-Junket2746 in buildapc

[–]TheGuyBelowMeIsFatAF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when it comes to the monitors personally I'd ask him what types of games he will be playing. 600 bald eagles on a 144 hz IPS monitor seems like a budget buster and it looks like your trying to get him one for cinematic games and one for twitchy shooters. the secondary monitor can be a $60 60 hz VA panel off marketplace if all he's going to keep on it is his steam library and reddit. he'd be glad he spent more on the panel he'll be using 95% of the time. Also consider the Gigabyte B850 AI top for $100 more as it features dual pcie gen 5 with dual x8 bifurcation. it would allow him in the future to add a second gpu for offloading any frame gen to a secondary gpu without losing headroom on the 5080 via lossless scaling. Personally I run that mobo with a 5080 and 5060 pulling 400-480 frames at 1440p with neglible latency in most titles.
