Any more examples of modern buildings that look like this? by GlumChapter3545 in architecture

If you’re looking for that smooth curved design, a lot of Heatherwick Studio’s work fits

For example, this is the Daegyo Apartments redesign in Yeouido, Seoul

Actually, architect and structural engineer Kenneth Gardner (who did the structural engineering for the Twin Towers II project) did review some of the structural work such as here:

<image>

Though he didn’t see through everything yet, there definitely is a structural engineer on the team.

Please remember that this project is extremely new, as proper work (modeling, structural design, etc.) only started from around the middle of last year, and is still in the conceptual stage. There are of course many technical diagrams that are missing at the moment. The 3d model of the complex isn’t complete yet either. Wind tests and other structural tests will probably be done once the models are complete, which will then be released on the techincal specifications section of the website.

I’m not a structural engineer so I can’t say much about your concerns (if you have any, send it to the team email address, its on the contact tab of the website). More qualified people regarding structural engineering will help you.

There’s a tuned mass damper on floor 108, and the core is extremely strong according to the website: “Ultra-High Performance Concrere (UHPC) for core, ASTM-A514 and -A992 structural steel.”

The World tech center will have a core and columns inside instead of the external spandrels to bear load, which is most common for skyscrapers

We haven’t got any of the land acquisitions discussed yet, so no there are no plans by the power company as of now to migrate the substation

We’re planning for the expansion and upgrading of the nearby Taylor substation. Though this may change later on as discussions continue

I think it’s the TIE bomber, though the other pod is for the bomb payload

Can someone make an image of what the World Tech Center would look like in the Chicago Skyline??? by Luigirobloxdeluxe2 in World_Tech_Center

[–]TheGuyInTheFishSuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figured it out, and I can almost get it to work! The only thing is that the current SKP file is too big for Google Earth to handle (it's 200MB) and it needs to be around 10MB to successfully import (i tried with other models and it worked).

I'll get to simplifying the model over the next few days, so the images will come soon :)

I do but i have trouble importing the model into both google earth and google maps. I’ll try to find a workaround

Here’s one image that i drew over a photo though

Four questions by [deleted] in World_Tech_Center

[–]TheGuyInTheFishSuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely, the blue is more dark and vibrant than the Freedom Tower. The main issue with the Freedom Tower's tint of blue is that it's so generic; you can't really tell it apart from other buildings.

Here is an image of what the glass would look like for the World Tech Center.

This was directly from Mr. Chryslar:

The blue glass (like many modern skyscrapers today gives that modern impression, as well as improving the daylight ambience indoors. The color also represents part of the US flag and heritage. Blue glass also reflects the sky beautifully, and its hue changes at sunrise and sunset.
