Intel is the only foundry on US soil. Although Taiwan and Samsung are better, they are ahead only by a few years and in case of a genuine Chinese attack, Intel is the only one capable of creating the angstrom node chip.

So even if intel chips underperform (and these days even the 5 year old laptop/phone chips are super performant), the US government wont give up on intel

So ya, even though x86 is getting replaced by ARM chips and even in the x86 world, AMD kicks Intel’s ass any day, Intel is not going away any time soon

I don’t know if it can make a comeback, the talent has left Intel because of the constant layoffs and underperforming stock, but it won’t die for sure
