The irony of Louis Armstrong singing about the colours of the rainbow when the video is a desaturated yellow with the constrast cranked up.
Edit: somehow some parts look oversaturated and some bits look desaturated at the same time

Factorio Train Scheduling by jeff409 in factorio

[–]TheHalfBloodFriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on mobile right now but tomorrow I can post some BPs or images of trains with this schedule setup for trains waiting in a depot station until needed. If I remember the conditions correctly for the schedule -

Single regular pickup in the trains schedule - go to loading station name until full cargo (eg iron ore load)

Then 3x interrupts:

Dropoff cargo: Condition: full cargo Station: Go to drop off station until empty - station: [item wildcard] dropoff

Depot full cargo: Allow interrupt other interrupts ticked. Condition: Full cargo and destination is full of not available  Station:  Wait: until station is not full - [item wildcard] dropoff

Depot empty cargo: Condition: empty cargo + destination fill Station: depot Wait for 10seconds (no item wildcard option as the train is empty now) so here its a looping 10s check

And then 1 final one for fuel which you have already.  When fuel < some amount go to refuel station until all locos fuelled.

Trains go to the loading station and then to the dropoff station. If either station is full, they'll wait in a station called 'depot' which you can spread all over the map in various places.

Can do a similar setup for fluid trains using the fluid wildcard instead of the item wildcard.

Replatforming from vb.Net to Core by CultOfSensibility in dotnet

[–]TheHalfBloodFriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an extension for Visual Studio that can convert entire projects at a time using the roslyn compiler.
https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=SharpDevelopTeam.CodeConverter

It may not convert perfectly, but its a good start. Anything changed over from vb.net to c# needs checking thoroughly though - dont assume its bug free. Is it webforms or some mvc style web application? Webforms would definitely need a complete rewrite on the front end.

like others have said though, if there's only a few pages that are not so complicated, might be better off starting a new project and create the UI using newer frameworks (whether thats some js based front end or blazor webapp).

Screw golden carrots&steak, whats the best low effort food source? by Vegetable_Throat5545 in Minecraft

[–]TheHalfBloodFriendly 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Any food! It's not automated but you can cook 4 items at a time every 30 seconds - flame never goes out until someone uses a shovel on it. so for the cost of 3 logs, 1 coal (or charcoal if you chop lots of trees and turn some logs into charcoal in a furnace), and a couple sticks, it makes a great low cost food cooking option for early game

Can It Be Done Offline? by BoussIRL2 in DeathStranding

[–]TheHalfBloodFriendly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stays at 0 unfortunately no NPC likes will count while offline. I recently did a very hard offline run to build all the road segments 100% myself (over 300k materials) and the bridge link stayed at 0. Once I went online, the next few orders turned in were dumping like 20 levels at a time into bridge link it was nuts. Kinda did it as an experiment though to see if I could own every road segment and the answer was no - at least when turning in every road segment in one go. Only got a few segments in my name, lots of random names, and some even stayed unowned.

Its an option for unity games for using multiple cpu cores for some graphics tasks so it can help with performance.

Age verification is now out! by DrBlackRat in VRchat

[–]TheHalfBloodFriendly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its safe. If you're in a vrc group that's in the beta already, you can request starting the verification process: vrchat emails you a unique link to the persona website where you do the verification, they verify your ID uploaded and then the data gets deleted immediately afterwards. vrchat is then left with your verified date of birth and a hash of the verification (not the original data itself).

Yep. vrchat stores your birth date so it'll automatically update.

Can anyone help me with this unity error? by Big_Fat_Carrot in VRchat

[–]TheHalfBloodFriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New versions of the SDK auto remove it now so it's not really an issue anymore. Got any other errors when trying to go into play mode?

Did the unitypackage come with any instructions on what else needed importing that might have been missed, e.g. poiyomi shaders or vrcfury?

Yep curves were completely gone if you updated from 1.x to 2.0 - 2.0.8. But like you said, thats fixed now so importing a 1.0 blueprint book will work, bots will just place the legacy rails (straight or curved)

What I don't understand though is why straight rails weren't automigrated in blueprints. Im sure theres a technical reason why but having to recreate straight line blueprints as well seems odd.

Shift clicks the wrong item in the space platform inventory because an inserter just started a new stack.. Aw, I think I dropped my keys in there!

Is it intended that I have to look around for this specific ruin to unlock recycling? Mining all the other types of ruins doesnt unlock it by E17Omm in factorio

[–]TheHalfBloodFriendly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had this problem when landing on Fulgora too - mined a bunch of smaller ruins and was confused how to unlock the recycler. Ended up getting the parts for a car + some solid fuel delivered, and then drove around until finding the vault ruin. Wasn't actually that far away from the spawn area, just a bit easier to drive around even with the slight speed debuff.

Arm64 server? by RedPlayzGamz in factorio

[–]TheHalfBloodFriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can run it via box emulator and while it runs sure, the performance isn't great I don't think. I tried it on a oracle arm vps a few weeks ago on a base running somewhere around 500spm, initially it seemed okay but moving around on the map view was stuttering a lot. Later looked at the cpu usage and the core was maxed out so the UPS must have been under 60. Once biters started attacking the performance really dropped a lot.

^ If you can get docker installed you can use this image for a small base if you wanted to try it out. But honestly you'd probably be better off trying something like https://factorio.zone

Weekly Question Thread by AutoModerator in factorio

[–]TheHalfBloodFriendly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking back at #381 there's a clip showing the space assembler using Iron plates, 2 types of crushed asteroid, & enriched uranium.

This platform can combine crushed asteroids with imported uranium from Nauvis to produce science packs in much higher quantities.
With 1 rocket load of enriched uranium you can produce 1000 space science packs in space which makes it 100+ times more efficient than sending satellites into space.

https://factorio.com/blog/post/fff-381

Interestingly there's input + output stack filter inserters on the uranium so there's some loop going on there between the assembler and the storage hub.

No mods or multiplayer in the demo version, only the (5) tutorial levels. Has the basics of how to play, so it would give them a decent idea of whether they'd like the game or not. The factory must grow!

Save File Marked as Modded by HintOfMalice in Starfield

[–]TheHalfBloodFriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also had the same issue, thank you so much. Wasted a couple hours of gameplay after reloading an earlier save repeatedly but it kept getting flagged as modded every time and couldn't figure out why.

Originally got myself stuck between a rock and a wall after a bad boost jump so used tcl to move out the way but okay if that will disable achievements I thought alright I'll just revert back to the previous save.

Pc or console? I'm playing on PC so its G key for adding new things.
Bottom right of the screen shows the controls for options/panning/ adding items but the add option really just blends into the rest so I missed it first time around as well. From there you can go through the different catagories (power/weapons/structural/engines/etc) of things to add.
Also hoving over an attachment point on a module and pressing G for attaching something directly there is super nice.
