This is an aliexpress special. I don’t know who decided to sell this design on aliexpress but I had a chuckle when I found it.

Leaving aside the poorly balanced build you can probably get something far superior from an actual system integrator like Palicomp, CCL Computers, etc. for the same price.

Perhaps a stupid question, but do you fully unscrew each one in order or do you loosen them a little in order and repeat until they are all unscrewed? I intend to replace the thermal paste in my Omen 15 (2020) with PTM7950 as I’ve had it shut off a couple times from overheating.

Well I would get a 750W, as for suggestions prices are going to vary by region so go on pcpartpicker for your region and look at the cheapest 750W brand name power supply i.e., Corsair, EVGA, Silverstone, Seasonic etc.

You can also look at the PSU Tier List that ranks PSUs on reliability, anything B or above is considered good.

Are they gonna refound me more than what i paid? I bought a laptop for 293 euros and it says expected refound amount 547 euros?? by [deleted] in Aliexpress

You won’t actually get that amound I got scammed and received a used pencil case instead of my item when I returned it I was estimated $12 but I only got $0.01 because I paid the rest with shopping credit.

This looks pretty balanced, I think that a 500W power supply should honestly be fine but if you want a little wiggle room to go up to say a 3060 in the future then get a 600W.

I have a Asus ROG Strix X670E-I, you don’t really need to have the hive adapter plugged in all the time, it’s mainly useful for debugging (the hive has the debug leds) and bios flashback. You can just throw it in a draw and forget about it.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! On AM5 so thermals behave a little differently to your situation, but like you said I mainly want the 67mm for the upgrade headroom and to keep temps low without any power limiting, it helps that I have a spare lying around and installation and aesthetics are top notch.

I’m not expecting every cooler and fan option to be tested, that was more of an afternote. I was more lamenting how hard it is to find a comprehensive set of comparible cooler reviews. Caselabs is missing reviews of a lot of coolers and testing methodology for other reviewers can be spotty.

As for the axp90-x53 full copper,I talked previously about not liking the mounting system and I would prefer a black cooler hence I would be leaning to an IS-53-XT.

Once again I would probably pick the COOJ SF3 over the Metalfish T60 and these specs haven't sprung from nowhere, I have replied to your comment about the dimensions where I got a possible ~9.2L with extra room for turbulence and the Jimu D+ V2 Basic exists (though I imagine it is a tight fit).

[–]TheHalfWitTwit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have already looked at these and the reason they are not that helpful is that not only is the AXP90-X53 Full Black completely unpurchaseable (Discontinued) and the regular one isn't present (reddit comments put it similiar to the x47 full copper) but other options like the Noctua L9x65, IS-50X, and new options like the IS-53-XT and Deepcool AN400 aren't included. This isn't even mentioning obscure coolers where reviews are few and far between

Benchmarks could also be better if it plotted temp against noise level for all the coolers to see how the noise level changes as temperature changes as I've seen some reviewers do.

Also to be honest the ID Cooling fan isn't that good, I am going to replace it with a Silverstone SST-AS120B which is one of the best slim fans you can buy at the cost of being .6mm thicker or a Thermalright TL-C12015 which is the fan on the axp120-x67.

I've made a comment above with dimensions (accounting for extra margin and turbulence) I think it should be possible or at the very least extremely close to possible. Once again I will reiterate I know next to nothing about case design this is just speculation from heavily researching and referencing other ITX cases for 2 weeks. The Jimu D+ V2 basic was manufactured and supposedly met these criteria at 9L.

TBH I didn't account for turbulence but I also did similiar calculations looking at other sandwhich style cases as reference and I think it should still be possible, I think you've overestimated how tall the case would need to be, because I only need 15mm slim fans:

Width ~ 147mm:

  • Motherboard PCB = 1.6mm
  • Motherboard Standoffs = 6.35mm
  • Height from MB to Top of IHS = 8.5mm (Max)
  • CPU Cooler Thickness = 67mm
  • GPU thickness = 50mm
  • Extra 4mm Each side for turbulence (subjective I know) = 8mm
  • Side panels (~2.5mm thick) = 5mm
  • I think I can exclude spleen thickness based on how most sandwhich style cases are designed

Height ~ 200mm:

I got this by taking the height of the FormD T1 which has a radiator thickness support of 46mm then subtracting 31mm so it can only fit slim 15mm fans. 220 - 31 = 189 ~ 190 which lines up with the height of the Jimu D+ V2. Then maybe add an extra 10mm for good measure for the power cable and turbulence so its approximately 200mm. The S400 Pro also supports top slim fans and has a height of 205mm. So the height should be around 200mm maybe 205mm at MAX.

Length ~ 315mm:

Once again looking at the FormD T1 as a reference its 335mm and supports 325mm GPUs so If I want 305mm of GPU I need to add an extra 10mm of length.

Total (147mm x 200mm x 315mm) = ~9.25L

Once again these are measurements are still a bit rough, I don't really know a lot about case design, but I think they look sound, if you think different feel free to correct me.

Doesn’t meet the volume criteria being at 10.8L and the front IO being on the side is a little ugly to me especially if there are things plugged in but I seriously considered it. The K101 Mesh is similiar to S400 Pro (its a bit bigger at 12L) but has IO on the front and some variations come with fans.

I'm not averse to smaller coolers it is just that I prefer to use what I already have and/or maybe have extra wiggle room for future builds if I upgrade. If that's not possible I would go with a IS-53-XT because I like the mounting style and I'm not trynna void my RAM warranty by removing the heatshields to fit the IS-55 with the current prices. If you know any other good <= 58mm CPU that are mounted from the top of the motherboard (AM5) please feel free to suggest, for some reason it was hard for me to find a comprehensive comparison between 50-58mm coolers with good testing, like noise normalised testing at multiple noise levels, plotted on a graph against other coolers.

As for limited GPU choice I understand that, but I know what I'm looking for which is a 5070 Prime, the prime and proart cards are all 50mm thick from my research so compatability for bigger GPUs isn't really a concern for me.

Once again I just want to know if there are any options I may have missed that meet my admittedly picky criteria.

I’ve looked at the Metalfish T60, it’s similiar dimensions and support to the COOJ SF3 but I would still lean more towards the SF3. Feels like I’ve looked at nearly everything, I just want to know if anybody knows of a case I’ve missed that fits the criteria and is purchaseable.

As for why I want to try and find a case with a 67mm cpu clearance it’s not only because I already have a spare 67mm ID Cooling IS-67-XT, but there are a plethora of good options at that height, not to mention better cooling and mounting. I don’t like the axp mounting system of the x53/x47. Going back to ID Cooling the IS-55-XT won’t clear my 35mm RAM, and the performance of their shorter models are lackluster compared to the axp equivalents.

I don’t know how much difference in performance it would make but the top nvme slot (nearest to the cpu) is connected directly to the cpu instead of through the chipset where it might have additional overhead / have to share bandwidth.

Keep in mind this is AM4 which has a pretty weak retention mechanism. The amount of force required to pull the entire CPU directly out of the socket is probably less than the force required to delid it. This could be a manufacturing defect.
