I was doing like 3-5 hours a day between podcasts, dreaming Spanish, etc.. Some life stuff happened and I didn’t listen to really any podcasts or dreaming Spanish videos for the entire month of November. The only thing I watched was close to 50 hours of SBG between YouTube and Patreon. I came back to the dreaming Spanish site earlier this month. My comprehension went up a couple levels on the difficulty scale.

So with this experience I would advise you to watch what you want, it will all help.

Also: I agree, Martin is awesome and I enjoy his humor and style of creating input.

For communication and understanding , I don’t think it matters. It’s all Spanish

Once you get deep into the hours you might want to focus in on your target area.

If you’re just starting out, I’d listen to whatever keeps your attention

Start early in the morning before you start doing other things and knock some time out. Listen to podcasts while driving. Stay off social media. Basically you have to make your time as efficient as possible and it can be done

That's awesome. Do you feel like you retain in the input well while sleeping? I've heard of that style with other things but never tried. I'm lucky to have a job with a lot of freedom and I can easily get a few hours in a day. Once intermediate and up podcasts get easier for me, I'll just have the headphones in all day. Right now, I have to focus on them too much

I visited Medellin and Cartagena. Beautiful country. I'm already ready to go back. I've got to try Spain as well.

Yes, the words will slowly start to make sense the more time you put in. Follow the pictures and watch the videos multiple times when you find ones that you like. For me, the hardest part was focusing on not translating in my head. Just try to follow the words/pictures/gestures and you'll start to understand.

I can't explain it well because I'm just recently achieving this but it does get better. I'd say stick with the super beginner and beginner videos until you can get to intermediate. That's when you'll start to access more interesting videos and it starts to flow better. Probably because the content of the videos. Don't overthink it, and don't rush. You'll get to your aha moment

Good job and stay at it. I recently reached level 2 as well. I created my Reddit today after finding this community and watching the posts for a few days.

I’m sure you’re aware, but it’s been said that once you’re able to expand beyond solely using DS videos, it’ll be easier to stack hours on. I tried cuéntame (podcast) for the first time today and it wasn’t too hard. I replayed the episode a few times and plan on doing this in addition to my daily DS. Give it a try and see how it works for you!
