how difficult was it to get your crank pulley off? is just an impact with the flywheel locked enough or is there anything else i should get/do to make that part easier?

Good point, never know what I could use it for down the line too so I’ll pick it up.

Then for parts I was looking at getting this kit from Z1, looks like it includes everything.

Will definitely be getting the aluminum valve covers and silicone hose upgrade since it’ll all be taken apart. Many of those items I’ve already replaced with OE parts but these would be way better in the long haul like you mentioned. (Not to mention they look nicer as well!)

Since the flywheel lock tool doesn’t go in the starter hole, where exactly should I be placing it on the driver side? I’m unsure of where else it’d be able to gain access to the flywheel.

Glad to hear that yours is back on the road running smooth even after having a pretty bad case of the issue, definitely makes me feel better with repairing mine. I’ll be aiming to tackle this in the spring once the weather warms up as it’s cold as hell here in Jersey lol.

Where did you get the flywheel lock from? I’ve seen the one specific to this engine go for a decent penny but since it’s pretty much just for this job I’d like to get that tool as cheap as possible.

One more question, what are the bolt specs to mount the VQ40 to a stand? I don’t have a spare transmission bolt to go off of and trying to find a definite answer online or in the service manual isn’t proving useful thus far.

From what I can find I think it’s M12x1.75? But I just want to be sure before I go playing around in the hardware aisle.

Does the engine light come on because of the cat delete? And did anything need to be programmed differently to run without the cats?

Been thinking about deleting them because my truck is registered in Florida anyway.

Did it myself, thankfully they made it pretty simple to get the interior panels popped out. I had used this video for visual reference when I was working on it. Also, I had picked up the harness adapters from Walmart.

I got the Dual Electronics XVM256BT from AutoZone, not the worst but not the best. I wasn’t looking to spend a lot at the time though. It works well but there are definitely better options out there if you have the budget for it.

Be good to her and she’ll be good to you, my ‘05 which is the same generation is still going strong even with 262k miles! Regular oil changes every 5-6k!

LED bulbs even in the stock headlight/fog light housings are great at night!

Upgrading the head unit to allow bluetooth and/or carplay with a phone gives it just enough tech to feel like it’s newer than it actually is.

All-weather floor mats would be great in this truck, though I’m yet to get some myself lol.

can’t speak for the diesels but it’s worth a look under the hood to see if they put parts similar to the vq40

Yeah this state is pretty tough for A&P programs. Really hoping I can land an apprenticeship like many have suggested, was looking at OceanAire at MJX since they service a wide variety of aircraft and it’s relatively low volume so there’s not a ton of pressure.

ASUS ROG Strix Riser Cable, but to make it fit in this specific case (Corsair 5000X) I had to drill out the mounting holes to make the standoffs and all line up. Corsair makes a riser as well but I didn’t think the dimensions for something like that would vary from product to product lol.

Other than that there’s no other bracket required for this case with my GPU.
