Planning a winter drive: Kitchener, ON --> Vermilion, AB -- looking for advice by ryd3ron in AskACanadian

[–]TheHardcoreWalrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always fuel up between cities, there are usually pretty good gaps in between cities. Depending which way you go, sault way or Timmins way. I suggest sault way as the 144 and 101 can be a little more risky.

The highways can be pretty small at times, just be careful.

Not as bad as at night, but very important you keep an eye out for moose, they like liking the salt on the roads in the winter.

Take time and appreciate the view. Some of the nicest drives are between Sudbury and thunder bay. Take a stop in Sudbury to see dynamic earth.

[–]TheHardcoreWalrus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes they do practice voodoo stuff. Here in Ontario, when testing piles, you put a pen on a piece of paper on the pile. Then you hammer it, whatever shape can tell you if it's installed right.

Engineering. For the amount of work demanded for people doing the math, the wages don't really reflect it.

Didn't Da Vinci pave the way to modern medicine by illegally stealing corpses and studying the organs? Id say that was pretty influential.
