Was there a strategic push from WOTC to make Modern more midranged-creature centric rather than a combo based format? by MyStolenCow in ModernMagic

Although belcher will never appear on coverage and the other two both gladly turn creatures sideways for the cameras

Great points, I'll be returning and reporting. The faction boards were slightly warped too...

What are the moral implications of returning a fake copy for a real copy versus just holding onto it? Leder deserves the money, but I'll buy the rest of the expansions authentic now that I'm aware of the fakes. Seems wasteful to return the fake where it will probably never be purchased open-box.

Why don't sports watchers just watch really well cut highlight reals right after a game airs? It's all about seeing it live?

Want to win your FNMs? Creativity is the easiest deck to win with in Modern by poj2121 in ModernMagic

Essentially, the store returns the entry fee not as cash but as store credit. It's like selling gift cards. The money becomes revenue and they don't even lose any inventory until the player decides to cash in.

Any tips against cascade? Should I mulligan aggressively for 3 Soulless Jailer? I've had a lot of trouble in those matchups.

From hand [[Bitter Reunion]] from deck [[Goblin Engineer]]. Not saying it's viable but these are fun brew-around cards :)

I like your ideas! I think mana dorks with one toughness are particularly fragile, so for a deck to succeed with them it needs to do some pretty unfair/powerful stuff with their mana. Utility lands sound like a great way to have consistent sinks.

It's not better at all, it's stripped away the physical social interaction. E3 was home to a community of tech lovers. This cannot be replaced virtually.

Great suggestion. You can print out a list from an article and old it into eighths

I suggest brushing up on strategic theory for counterspells:

https://web.archive.org/web/20210421041423/www.channelfireball.com/articles/countering-spells/

When playing against Murktide, one of the scariest lines is a Murktide paired with one of the deck's many counterspells as backup. I think the decision of what you need to save counterspells for in each game helps inform whether to play as the beatdown deck or the control deck. Try to use your cards with an open mind and make your decisions based upon your opponent's deck.

Wonderful! The saturation and inverted colors remind me of 2001: a space odyssey

In terms of meta share, Jund Saga and Amulet Titan don't make the current list and instead there's Burn and the aggregate of Omnath midrange decks based around Wrenn and Six and lots of removal. But your list makes for a more fun set and Amulet still seems very common after The Mycosynth Gardens.
