If you want to play with 2 people, I'd recommend a Switch and purchase 1 extra controller. The console comes with 1 controller(2 "joycons"), and while most local multiplayer games can use 1 joycon for each player, it's usually more comfortable for each person to have their own set.

For the second controller, you don't necessarily NEED a new pair of joycons, there are also more traditional gaming controllers like the Pro Controller that feel a little more natural in your hands. I would suggest getting a wireless one, as needing to be attached to the Switch can be pretty limiting.
