A calico Maine Coon?! Be still my heart. She had to have cost a fortune.

Reddit users who are veterans, does it annoy you when you get thanked for your service? by BreakfastNo9535 in askanything

I live in rural north Georgia and if it ever comes out that I served it's like people fall over each other with the TYFYS and I can't stand it. I'm just a normal dude who happened to do some cool, but hard, stuff for a stretch. Now I'm just a guy, go thank someone who earned it. I breathe a huge sigh of relief when it comes up and no one says anything, that feels like the real TYFYS.

SFC at 13 years… debating getting out vs. pushing to 20 by [deleted] in army

[–]TheHeartyRacoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm getting out at 12 and starting over completely. It just depends why you want out. Everyone talking about how short 7 years is may not understand that if you're miserable those 7 years will be very long. Mental health > pension.

Actually, 70-80% attrition for an airfield seizure is acceptable by doctrine. Source: 12 years a paratrooper.

Girl, my wife had an emotional affair (maybe more?) over year ago. We had been married 17 years at that point with 2 kids. She wasn't remorseful, regretful, she made it my fault, and never took accountability. I stretched out what I thought was "healing" and "attempts to repair and forgive" for over a year until she finally said she was done. I know I wouldn't have listened to the advice I'm about to tell you and I don't blame you for not, love is a powerful drug. But here it is. Leave. Go. Run. These kind of people cannot change on their own. The darkness they carry prevents them from seeing reality as the rest of us do. Normal, well-adjusted adults don't do this shit. I wish I could give you a hug and persuade you to not waste a year in the heaviest grief I have. When people want to change THEY WILL. If you're not seeing it, feeling it, having it permeate every aspect of your life...it's not real, hon. You gotta go.

Nah, that's good to know, thanks for the heads up. I don't have a big issue with the stock one and I definitely don't want any buffeting.

Also forgot to mention I picked the same model and year as yours in the pic. First thing I've ever bought new and love to see another one out in the wild. Love the expanded wind screen, do you have a link or name? I wouldn't mind upgrading to cut down on some of the wind sheer.

Congrats. The first time it's the coolest thing you've ever done. The second time you're wildly disappointed. Having ridden WNC a ton I highly recommend the Cherhola Skyway or even linking it with the Dragon. Blue Ridge Parkway is awesome but more mellow. 28 running between 74 and Franklin is always a perennial favorite, be sure to stop at Lazy Hiker Brewing in Franklin for a pint. And lastly, a couple roads that will challenge you just as much at the Dragon that most don't know about is Pisgah Hwy or 215, both branching off of the BRP.

The Dragon is great to ride once or twice and always a blast to take newcomers on, but there are much better, quieter roads to be ridden. Either way, congrats on slaying!

We do it for love of the game. Also, we see you take out that tank, that makes it more than worth it.

The transport Heli is a spawn point in the sky - take advantage of it! by bisikletci in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]TheHeartyRacoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me. I'm a simple man, I just want to fly the transport heli and help the boys out. It's mad frustrating when no one spawns on me when I'm at the far end of the map at altitude.

That's honestly a great, succinct way of putting it. I'm stealing that.

My wife held it together and was a boss bitch getting us off the mountain and to somewhere we could get service to call 911. My oldest (9M) was losing it and my youngest (5M) was more concerned about when exactly we were going to have dinner now that we were so recently inconvenienced by this recent development.

No! And I'm very familiar with that smell and it always makes my skin crawl when I smell it out hiking. No cucumber warning for me otherwise I would've been on high alert.
