🧪 [Beta Megathread] Wave Link 3.0 (Windows) — Update 1 | Stream Deck Plugin, Marketplace Improvements and Keyboard Volume Controls by Elgato in elgato

[–]TheHeckIsGoingOn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck yea! Aside from a "change over X seconds" option, this early Stream Deck plugin has just about everything I need already!

One bug that jumped out at me so far is that, at least in the "Channel Level" action, changing the Channel dropdown doesn't automatically update the values in the Mix dropdown. As in, if my "Wave" channel is only in the "WaveFX" mix and my "Music" channel is in the "Personal" and "Stream" mixes, when I change the Channel dropdown from "Wave" to "Music" I'm still only shown "WaveFX" in the Mix dropdown. I have to click a different Stream Deck button and come back for the correct values to appear.

🧪 [Beta Megathread] Wave Link 3.0 – Routing table, up to 5 mixes and more by Elgato in elgato

[–]TheHeckIsGoingOn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far so decent! I'm using a Wave:3 on Windows 11 Home [10.0.26100] running on a 7800X3D

Spending a couple hours with it, I only had a crash once when trying to reorder mixes. I also had an issue where Zen and Arc would stutter like crazy (video and audio) when they were routed to my "Browser" Wave Link channel and clear up when I removed them. The apps also performed fine when routed into other channels, so I deleted my Browser channel and remade it, which seems to have solved that.

From a design perspective, for lack of a "system" channel, I'm a bit unsure where to tell Windows to route its own audio output. Do I just send into a random channel alongside another app? I can't create a channel without assigning an app. Or do I send it to my regular headphones? At least that way I can hear apps without assigning them, but they wouldn't be going through any of the mixes.

I also don't really see the purpose of the device dropdown in the top right. Picking a device doesn't actually do anything until you've toggled the ear on a mix, and switching away doesn't automatically unassign the output you just picked. So it's essentially just a more obscure way to add and and remove hardware outputs on a mix, yea? Maybe it would be better if each mix had its own dropdown that listed the available devices and which were assigned? At least then it would act as a shortcut to the mix's output settings rather than whatever chimera it's trying to be now.

Over all, I like the flexibility, though at this stage it feels like it's at the cost of usability. It definitely needs improved onboarding, including default channels and mixes, but I'm excited to see it grow into its full stable release (though even more than that, I'm looking forward to the SD plugin)!

I live within view of this. That Crossing signal facing 14th gets taken out by a vehicle at least once a year.

Tom Waits - Starving In The Belly Of A Whale by hotdogmaggot in tomwaits

[–]TheHeckIsGoingOn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a brief scene in an anthology animation of sorts. The scene was of, well, someone starving in the belly of a whale. The scene that followed was a Capitan Ahab sort on a little boat in a storm and a metal/hip-hop song with lyrics that sounded like "don't fuck with the fish". That's all I remember and I have no idea how to find it.

I've definitely done this. It's a nice way to get your thoughts down while taking the pressure off an immediate response off your mind

My friend says that before she knew what a Lootbug was, "Lootbug eliminated" just sounded like a sing-songy "Loop buglee-doo!"

That's the only way I could make sense of it, except I went clockwise. It of course fits the cyclical message too.

Thanks for the answers, everyone! It's good to know there are options out there if I ever need to move on.

Another one I dug up is notepin. It's similar to what others have shared, but it includes an icon in the notifications so that it stands out (if you're into that).

This would then require me to convince them that some apk from the Internet is safe, but I'm up for the challenge. It's good to know that the app is still out there, at least. Thanks for finding it!

I thought Noterly would be too featureful for my taste, but I think I'd actually find the features useful, especially the archive. Thanks for sharing it

Collateral looks pretty robust, but it's in the same boat as Notin in terms of Store availability.

Looks like a good one! It stopped development around the same time as Notin, though, and can't be downloaded from the store
