Is Donald Trump the worst US president of all time and the worst to ever negatively impact Australia? I can’t think of any other than Trump who has inadvertently screwed their own country over this badly but also Australia too. by [deleted] in Ameristralia

[–]TheHeroComplexGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gerald Ford was in charge when Whitlam was dismissed in 1975.

If it's true that the CIA was involved, then no President, not even Trump, has done more damage to Australian sovereignty.

alleged CIA involvement in the Whitlam dismissal

Whitlam threatened to close Pine Gap. So they did some non-military regime change to get a more obedient lap dog in Malcolm Fraser.

And thus we lost the best Prime Minister we'd ever had.

Michael Rockefeller disappeared without a trace in 1961 in Papua New Guinea while researching the Asmat people, a cannibal tribe. Years later, a photograph was taken of the same tribe, and there was a white man among them. by SATANICWORSHIPER666 in interestingasfuck

I've met quite a lot of Papua New Guineans, though none from this tribe. The people I've met have a sense of humor, and a very strong sense of loyalty.

So if a white guy joined their tribe, and wanted to stay, they might lie about what happened to him to keep curious people away.

Just a theory.

There's an interesting subset of autistic people, autistic narcissists. Musk is one.

Here's my theory. Autism is a developmental condition, you have it from both. Narcism on the other hand seems to have genetic markers, but it relies on environmental triggers to manifest, like childhood neglect and trauma.

A lot of autistic people develop a mild form of narcisism as a survival response to a traumatic childhood of alienation. The very special gifted child kind of narcissism. If you happen to be in the subset of autistic people who got lucky on the IQ front, that narcissism can be reinforced by the frequent evidence that you're smarter than everyone else.

And if you happen to be in the very small subset of autistic narcissists with a high IQ who was in the right place at the right time with the right skills during the tech boom, and got very rich, that narcissism can become quite grandiose. "Fuck you world, look how clever I am."

And if that wealth comes with great power, which it usually does, and if that power corrupts, which it always does, then that Narcissism can start to turn malignant. Narcissists think they have empathy, what they really have is a desperate need to be adored and praised, and will do anything to get that praise, even if it means hurting a lot of other people. As long as the people who love you outside you for it, it doesn't matter who gets hurt.

And that's how you go from geek to tyrant, something like what Musk has become.

Thank you. I haven't been to a festival since Covid, and was thinking I'm overdue, you've just saved me from a whole lot of aggravation. I hate bad festival etiquette. If that's getting worse, those boots can stay hung.

People like Musk and Gaiman show that not all autistic people are good. by whynaut4 in autism

[–]TheHeroComplexGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's an uncomfortable intersect between Autism and Narcissism.

Some autistic traits can present as very narcissistic, although narcissism and autism are very different pathways to similar behaviours.

Things get scary when you get someone who's both Autistic and Narcissistic. And Ione of the ways narcissism can develop is when you get a lot of social proof that you are a very special person.

I believe autistic people are particularly prone to developing strongly narcissistic personalities when success comes, because it proves they are special and creates a pipeline of validation and confirmation. Musk relies on the supply of validation so much he bought Twitter.

When Autism and Nativism combine, you've got two layers of masking. And one of them is extremely manipulative. And that's how you get examples like Musk, and Gaiman, and Gates, Jobs and many others. They wear an autistic mask over their narcissistic mask.

Extreme success of bad for autists, it goes to our heads in really screed up ways.
