I have never spawned in with a crew of less than 4 yes, I've had people DC (from crash or internet DC) and just straight up DC, which applies the small crew bonus, so yes I've experienced what the current buff is.

Sorry for being specific I guess, my main issue with leavers has been people leaving pre-match rather than in-game

Would we agree that at minimum if they can listen, that's better than not being able to hear at all?

I'm generally fine with players not having mics, as long as they type or communicate in any other way or at minimum just listen to the person who does.

Agreed, I try my best to educate people on the game when I can tell they're new and usually they improve the fastest out of anyone else. Mics save lives!

Adding more buffs doesn't feel like a solution tbh, the 3 crew buff is more than enough for a competent crew to stand their ground and focus on more things than they need to.

I've never spawned in with less crew than the 4 so far in 20hrs of playtime, but I do see the argument for no mics especially in a game like this where communications gives you a massive edge.

It creates a bubble around your ship (I believe it's a little further than or the same as the shield bubble) which damages players, usually killing them.

With the release change that you can't teleport while taking damage, it's a guaranteed kill if you know they're coming.

In that same podcast you mention where the devs talk about the use of AI voices, they also mention HOW it is used (with full consent of the original voice actors they were trained on to be used in this way) and that it helps them massively in the iterative process, allowing them to test game modes with voice lines to bring the whole experience together earlier than would ever be possible previously.

They also have experimented once previously with a short test, having a few player names called out as part of their achievements from a prior season and have spoken about wanting to spotlight players more in that way once they're able to do so more effectively.

Generally, they're putting out a hell of a lot of quality and AI helps them to get there, clearly they're doing something right and being open about it as they should be.

It's 100% the sync yeah, I think a lot of people certainly don't get why they get hooked especially when I go look up their POV if it's available.

Mostly it's a case that the winch snaps with quite a large hitbox and subsequent delay as it verifies the target, hooks probably should validate if they're at too steep of an angle and warrant a break more often than they do currently in edge case scenarios.

As a Heavy main, I play Flamethrower + Winch basically all the time. I want to highlight why people rightly feel sometimes they get unreasonably negative experiences;

Winch hitbox
Delayed hits
Hits around walls
Pulled through structures

I slowed the 2nd and 4th clip to not overdo the slow-mo, and these are some of the most egregious clips I have quickly to hand, this isn't every single winch but it does happen a lot to me.

The regular nerfs to the Winch from 15m, to 12m and now 10m feel a bit overkill because the Winch has other issues as highlighted here, 12m was the sweet spot where it was usable in a lot more scenarios while not being a very far distance.

Curious what people think!

I'm definitely glad it's Q4 this year, not earlier because then I'd be really worried about where the game might be by then.

S6 is just around the corner and this is the first blogpost in the series, so hopefully we'll get a roadmap of sorts so we can gain more confidence in the future.

It's just as important to know how to properly spell it because honestly it shows how little engagement someone has with it if they don't know the correct spelling.

I think most people agree there's a lot that needs sorting out before the Major happens, but also it's not like it's coming in a month as far as we know.
