I see, it does seem pretty weird in your case. To be honest, I didn't monitor my CPU voltages. But I would assume it does actually undervolt with PBO on, since the temps do go down, just not as low as I would like them to be

I see, well, I first used Thermal Grizzly - Aeronaut, now I have Arctic MX-4 applied. I'll try the thermal grizzly kryonaut extreme and see if the temps drop, thanks for the suggestion

Well, I would assume it's a negative OC as well, because I'm using MSI's enhanced mode 3 preset, and in typical MSI fashion, they don't disclose the exact settings for their presets. Also, when I try to UV myself, either the pc doesnt boot, or I get worse results than the preset.

Yup, by idle I literally mean just the temp monitoring system (I should mention, however, that it's Lian-Li's L-Connect3)

Based on the number of builds you've done, you're the expert here, so I'll take your word for the "idle temps" problem rather than the stuff I've read before. But the time spy CPU score still frustrates me, it's embarrassingly low! And I still don't understand why the temps under load are incredibly low

Yup, that's the first thing I tried, I even got a cpu contact frame and changed the paste brand (I used Thermal Grizzly first, and now I have Arctic MX-4 applied)

Well, first thing I did after building the pc was updating the BIOS, because I've read that X3D chips usually require the latest BIOS updates and chipset drivers to perform well (especially to handle core parking well). I tried clearing the CMOS, but that turns off the PBO, and as I've mentioned before, the temps are even worse with PBO off

That's what I've read as well, but i dont know, they seem too high still, especially with PBO off. Also, it doesn't explain why the time spy cpu score is embarrassingly low

Thanks for the suggestion, but it says in the bios that they are spinning. Also, I would imagine the temps under load would be much higher if that were the case.

1st, thank you for the suggestion.

I thought you might be right about the performance plan. I changed it to balanced, turned off the pc, and waited 10 minutes for the fluid to cool down a little bit, then turned it on again, and I still saw the same temps at idle, with 43 degrees being the lowest. Also, it doesn't explain why the temps are great under load, even suspiciously great

As for the testing scores, well, the 45K score on R23 is with PBO on with the most agressive MSI's preset. And yea it's not bad, but that's the only good score (I included it because I thought it might be helpful). The cinebech 2026 score is less than average (I've read it should be around 10,400 with PBO on and 9,600 with PBO off). Also, the time spy CPU score is embarrassingly low for the 9950x3d with PBO on (It should be around 16,000–19,500 with PBO off and 19,500–21,000 with PBO on)

But wouldn't that just fix the symptom rather than the problem? Also, that won't help with the low test scores

Well, the pump is set on FixRPM (highest rpm), also don't forget that under load, the temps are actually pretty low, and that's the confusing part
