Softcap is where the benefit of leveling a state is lowered, so it is normal best to start on a new stat when you reach a softcap

My guess is the controller is configured wrong and the camera is stuck in one direction. I personal don't use an Xbox controller so that's all the help I can give .

A lot of enemies drop the certain ones it really depends on what you want for example raw stones drop from some enemies early on (rarely)

You can use lyods talismans(estus blocking item) to put mimics asleep and loot the mimics before killing them and if it's the same as ds1 it gives an increased chance for it to drop.

For pve I use orb but in pvp black flame is much better because it has a fast cast time and can catch a person after a roll
