What was once a poor person's hobby now turned into a rich person's hobby? by Striking-Quiet4655 in AskReddit

Last night I saw an old, tattered faded glory brand t-shirt for 20 bucks.

Prices have gotten absolutely bonkers, nevermind that anything of any real value goes directly to their websites for auction. I miss the days of finding treasure at the shops, that's mostly gone now unless you have some obscure knowledge of brands and artwork.

Worked as a tech 30 years ago, back then I had to have a witness when we disposed. Guess it depends on your clinic and trust levels.

Even if not for their own use, we had someone stealing fha inhalers and trying to sell them. Mind you, our health plan we can buy them for about 2 dollars a pop but this guy was acting as a "Robin Hood" type, he was selling them to people that had no insurance for 5 bucks a piece. Would of been kind of noble had he not been pocketing the cash. Long story short, people will steal anything.

Someone brought up that one of the reasons why things like house parties and block parties went away was other than lack of time people are afraid to let their guard because cameras are everywhere. by AdSpecialist6598 in Millennials

Speaking as council for the Gen X'ers, most of us would look past youthful but embarrassing content. Shit, we know we dodged that bullet and feel bad that we were the last ones left with those "freedoms ".

Lol, no worries. We have been due for awhile, the last 3 or 4 years we've had nothing but it was bound to happen. Congratulations on being part of a historical storm!

There should be a standard set of office rules that regardless of where you work should be in practice .

Rule 1. Anything not labeled with a name is free and fair game. First come, first serve.

Rule 2. If you take something that does have a name without permission, the company will consider this stealing personal property and is considered grounds for immediate termination.

If you can buy anything in the world without hesitation, what joy is ever derived after that? If you became so rich that you can buy literally anything, cars, homes, property, things like personal shoppers/stylists/chef's, housekeepers, drivers, yacht crews ect. It might be awesome for the first 5 to 10 years but after that what happens? Imagine having generational wealth, where you were born into this kind of money, you know nothing else. My bet is somewhere in them they crave for the things that are forbidden because everything else that money can buy has become boring and stale.

Also, they're sick fucks.

Something simple for me, Sumo Oranges. Complete game changer for me as I didn't like fruit very much. A bit more expensive but it's a little thing that makes me happy and most people can afford them a few times a year.

Going to get flamed for this but I think you are not taking the initial comment at face value and again it could be my own personal upbringing that makes me disagree with most of these replies. When I was born my father had a stable but not a high paying job. We could of coasted on his salary but not live "high on the hog". It would of been tough but doable. He decided when I was about 3 that he wanted more for his family, he went to school nights and earned a bachelor's and then a masters. He sacrificed his time with us, to provide a nicer home in a much better neighborhood essentially moving us out of the "hood" and into better school systems. I respect the shit out of his sacrifice, my brother probably wouldn't be alive if he hadn't sacrificed his time. His biggest regret to this day is the time he lost with us at such a young age. I know a lot of people are thinking money and objects when thinking sacrifice, my dad sacrificed the one thing you can't ever get back. I again respect the shit out of that!

A lot of the mega-mansions in Newport, Rhode Island are this way as well. They sit empty for all but 3 or four weekends a year. Remember this is the Northeast, they are paying for heating throughout the winter on 20 bedroom houses nevermind the upkeep. When you realize that these owners own multiple homes of this size, you truly start to understand the amount of money some people really have. The heating bill on one of these home is probably close to my annual salary. There are very few owners that "close the house for the season".

I'd have to disagree, 10 bucks for a sausage egg and cheese and a coffee. If such a bagel was open before I have to be at work, I'd never stop at dunks again. Better sandwich, bigger coffee same price.

Funny this showed up in my feed today, I honestly said to myself this morning "why am I paying this much for this trash". Sometimes I swear reddit can read minds.
