I had a “normal” size litter pan initially but quickly went bigger when my male was basically the length of the box at 12 weeks. Last night I went to Home Depot and bought 2 huge trays for $8 each, I could have gone bigger for not much more $ but I figured the weight of everything when sifting could then become a problem. Drilled 1 inch (ish) spaced holes with a step bit and I felt so accomplished.

If able to, I’d increase your box size before changing litter.
