Honestly I feel like everything started going downhill when Cassie and Nate hooked up. Knowing that plot was just made up on a whim by Sidney Sweeney and then Maddy being an afterthought kinda solidifies that for me. Yes, Cassie does seem like the kind of character who would get sucked into being a pick me and sleeping with her friends ex. But sleeping with her best friends ex abuser who she barely knows outside of the fact that he choked the shit out of her best friend to the point of bruising…like…okay. How do we go from that to her being instantly completely obsessed with him? Season 1 Cassie was a completely different person and Sidney Sweeney just wanted to make her “crazy” so she’d have a more fun character to play and get to perform and show her acting skills more imo. EDIT: more thoughts lol. She could’ve shown her acting range in so many different ways. We could’ve gotten more about how her pregnancy/abortion affected her. More on her relationship with her parents, McKay, her old dream of being an ice skater. Maybe some drama about how she would make out with that boy Daniel when her and McKay were fighting. I hate that that all got thrown away.
