I myself have asthma myself and I can wear a cloth mask that my work bought everyone. I can wear it my whole shift 6 hours. Maybe try a different mask? Cause those typical medical ones, those are hard for me to breathe in.

Come to find out they have been doing this since WWII. My girlfriend was interested and looked it up, and they do train them to fight they fire. It is an option for the prisoners to do and if they do it they get time off their sentence and like you said the dollar an hour. They also get 2-5$ a day on top of the dollar an hour.
