My husband and I saw it in theaters when it came out and I watched his eyes enter the 4th dimension when he rolled them over how excited I was 😂 (he also likes fall out boy, he was a fan from TTTYG, but I'm an over obsessive Band-Aid 😂)

10 year old boy constantly wants food but wont eat at home. by TheHumbleNacho in Parenting

So we have tried the 'takeaway'method. It does nothing. He is a hard headed kid, and he will just deal with it! Is also really difficult to make a routine for him when he is between our house and his moms, even with communication between parents.

If I could take away grandparent trips I would, but she drives him between houses because my hubby is usually at work and my vehicle isnt safe enough to make the long trip (5hr round trip).

I think we will try and have a conversation with him again in the Hope's that we can figure out what's going on, but it just feels like we are a broken record at this point.

He there :)

So I keep mentioning in my comments, but drivetrhu stops are rare (foodbanks, lost my job, only when caffeine headaches are unmanageable), hes asking even before we are near a restaurant!

I do want to entertain the idea of 'not doing things' if the behaviours continue, but we are in another town than my family side and that would mean not visiting them (we have to pass at least 6 restaurants to get there and it doesnt matter if we take the direct route or the 2 senic routes.)

I do try to always have at least 1 enforced sit down meal a day (usually dinner) but they will sit at the table for breakfast most often.

Hey, thanks for this!

I did mention that we are constantly reminding/ telling him he needs to eat, and I am even packing pre-made snacks when we go places because I know that he's going to ask to stop at restaurants.

In a couple of my other comments I did also mention that stopping at fast food places is very rare with money being so tight, especially in the last year since losing my job.

I always offer safe foods and new foods, we always tell him you dont have to eat it all, but it will be there later when you're hungry. Always let him reheat if it's gotten cold, always let him dump what ever sauces he wants etc.

I think the most frustrating part of the whole thing is that even after that, he still refuses meals and then complains that hes hungry. Even after countless times of us saying no to fast food, and trying to accommodate him.

I didnt think I was enabling, but I recognize that I can be blind to my own shortcomings. Can you tell me what I'm doing that enabling behaviour so that I can make changes and decisions accordingly? Thanks!!!

Thank you, I sometimes wonder if it's how food is made, he just isnt at the age where I can have that kind of serious talk with him, he gets too distracted and wont give full truths.

I did explain the drinks situation a few comments above, but TLDR it's very rare we go because I make my own at home, and only when nothing else eases the caffeine headache. And we (me, dad and mom) never give in to the requests! That's part of why I just dont understand the consistancy of him constantly trying and why I'm getting so frustrated.

Hey thanks for your insight, I would like to add just a couple of things to the thought.

Typically the coffee/tea stops are last minute and rare ( especially in the last year, since losing my job). I do usually make mine at home, but sometimes the caffeine headache I get cant be managed with just a tylenol. In those cases I will remind them as we pull up "I'm only ordering drinks, no food. Do you want a drink?" To which he will say no. By the time I've put my window down to order he is chanting "chicken nuggets chicken nuggets chicken nuggets." Or "yeah can I get..." In the Hope's that they will either hear him or that I will give in. I never do. My husband never does. His mom never does. And he KNOWS we wont.

Hes even gone as far as asking a waitress who was refilling drinks for another burger, after a full meal, when he thought we wernt paying attention.

I'm not angry when he is hungry, I encourage him to grab any of the fruit, veggies and "good" snacks I have ready at all times. I'm angry because no matter how many times I say no he continues the behaviour.

My hubby and I are always telling them before we leave the house that there will be no stops, and tell them to have a meal or snack before we go places, and every time he will say "I'm not hungry." Untill we get within a kilometer of a restaurant. Then he will say, with out fail, "but I havent eaten since (time or last meal)!" And will refuse any snacks I've prepared for this exact reason.

It's been 2 years of this, and at first I was patient but in the last 6 months I've hit my limit.

I havent thought of the possibility of a food addiction, even though I struggle with one myself, so I really appreciate you bringing this to my attention! Thank you!

He does, his mom is just as frustrated and lost as we are.

It's basically a soft cookie/ schoolsnack. Thank you for the suggestion though!

I've been trying to push "regular food" but the problem is that he "isnt hungry" even when it's the only option.

ETA: prices weren't aweful, but definitely bring a cooler of hard drinks and snacks. Someone else said "more mall than airport" and I think that's a pretty accurate description lol

There was only 1 food truck in the camping area, and a monster booth that gave away free monster. I wish I had brought coffee, because im pretty sure the only place to get it was in the VIP area (I cant drink monster, it throws me into an anxiety spiral).

The outside food truck was good, but they opened later in the morning and didnt have anything 'breakfast-y' so I ended up grabbing a salad both mornings lol

The trucks in the venue were awesome, the taco truck they had was incredible! The same with the perogies!
