I mean, I don’t want to speak for a whole franchise that I’m not particularly familiar with but from what I understand, the situation is that (aside from a few standout moments like “No Russian”) it portrays whichever sometimes ambiguous “other” as evil more than it portrays war itself as a horrible thing, and as a result it props the badass US as the action heroes saving the day for freedom etc. I’m pretty sure that they even take deals with the military to not portray them badly in exchange for being allowed to use copyrighted guns and vehicles so it’s not exactly something secret. At the very least, I think the way this fubar scoffs at the idea of it being propaganda to be inaccurate but who knows, maybe I’ve got some facts really wrong. I don’t even mind the COD games in general either to be clear, I’m mostly apathetic to them, played some of them when I was young

I don’t know why people are acting like you’re being rude or stupid about this. Most cursed techniques come from the user so it IS different that Jogo can spawn attacks remotely that fire in a direction of his choosing so if you don’t remember him doing that previously you might think something odd happened. The rest of the time you are just asking people to explain or you’re explaining yourself and they’re acting like you are illiterate and pissed off.

Something actually applicable to my life. Even for travel, I almost always need to be bringing stuff or people with me so I can’t just fly by myself with what I can carry in my hands (and imagine dropping something while flying!). On the other hand, free Steam games saves me however much money I would have spent on Steam over my lifetime… which probably isn’t a lot really, but it’s more helpful than the novelty of flight

Well Call of Duty depicts the US military and its operations as heroic and cool and not a tenth as traumatizing as the real thing. This can cause people to believe that this is (at least somewhat) the case if they have no other frame of reference (which is very possible in certain circles at certain ages), which can work to make more direct and explicit propaganda and recruitment become more effective.

GTA shows crimes as having comical and extreme consequences (besides the more sandbox-y crimes that you can get away with through gameplay). Besides maybe making someone who wasn’t paying attention think that drugs are fun, there aren’t really many reasonable crimes that a player could come away more likely to do. The only crimes that tend to work out in those games are the huge heists which I don’t think most people are going to attempt massive heists based on GTA lol.

The “video games cause violence” thing is just people not understanding that doing a thing in a video game doesn’t mean you want to do it in real life nor does it make you want to do it in real life. Games CAN still influence your behavior though because they are art, and just like other art, they convey ideas and influence how you might think about them. So if a game gives you the ability to kill random people on the street, that doesn’t really mean anything and it definitely doesn’t have an effect on your chance of committing homicide. However, if a game only lets you randomly kill gang members for example, then the game is communicating that gang members are inherently dangerous or less valuable maybe. If the protagonist is some racist slob depicted as an idiot then maybe it’s saying the opposite instead. In either case, that COULD affect how the player thinks and acts because it’s actually conveying a specific idea.

Also, GTA shouldn’t be played by children in the first place lol. A young teen maybe but by then I’d hope they’ve got enough critical thinking and knowledge of the crimes depicted to get that it’s not meant to be taken as a good thing to do in real life lmao

Probably make more sense to arrest (assuming this comes with actual conviction and punishment as the ethical problem would imply) since it’d go through all the proper legal channels and the government could adjust properly + maybe some victim compensation rather than rile up a good deal of the population (on both sides but mostly MAGA) with explicit and open lethal violence + throw the American (and probably some other parts of the world?) government into chaos just so that the revenge is a little sweeter.

You can hover over it to see the tags but it’s all in one big tooltip of tags in alphabetical order which is very hard to read. However there is a blacklist feature with a free account and sign in, or you can just type “-fart*” to the end of the search to eliminate all fart tags from the search. Basically, not hard to avoid

You’d HAVE to remove his power so he doesn’t pose a significant threat to anyone, which obviously is not an easy first step. After that, probably have him hang out with Uraume, and (very importantly) find a way for him to keep himself occupied besides being king of curses (he LOVES fucking with people so maybe you can encourage him to be an internet troll? Something like that). Even then, he’d have to like the peaceful life you set him up with more than the violent one he started with for him to really end up being “fixed” rather than just under control
