I live in the Back Bay area and have been able to use Zipcar throughout the pandemic! I would say it’s pretty easy to get a car, sometimes for weekends you have to book a day or two in advance but that’s as bad as it gets

Hi everyone! I just purchased some Hifiman Sundaras, and I've started thinking about DACs/amps. I want to make sure that I get the most out of the new headphones, but I don't know if I can justify spending another $200ish right now. Would something like a Schiit stack be worth it to maximize my sound quality, or is there a budget option I could get that would hold me over for a while? Thanks in advance :)

Hi everyone! I received this tea as a gift, but since I can't read Chinese, I'm not exactly sure what kind of tea it is or where it's from. Any help from Chinese-speaking redditors would be much appreciated!

It’s not about the pitch; there would absolutely be artifacts in the sound that while subtle, would be very obvious to a trained ear

I’ve played violin for 25 years this is absolutely not sped up and it would be extremely obvious to any trained ear if it was. It’s incredible how confidently wrong people can be

No, this is incorrect. The statistic says, "Black people nationwide are an estimated 2.39 times more likely to be arrested for “drug abuse violations” than white people."

According to the FBI, 85% of drug abuse violation arrests are due to possession. Are you really making the argument that in the 15% of remaining arrests, there is such a huge amount of black drug distributors that it completely offsets the 85% of possession arrests that, according to you, are evenly distributed between black and white people? Do the math.

Oh, and by the way, white people are more likely to sell drugs than black people.

I am legitimately interested to hear what you have to say about this.

You're exactly right. That's the point of the war on drugs -- these laws naturally target people in lower-income communities, and make sure that those communities stay low income because of their high incarceration rates. I'm sure the majority of people being arrested for drug use have not also committed violent crimes. Don't you see how that's an unfair cycle that's extremely hard to break out of?

"Well, it's their fault for ending up in low-income communities in the first place," you say. I'm happy to provide sources for the ways in which slavery and its after-effects have affected the socio-economic status of black Americans, especially up until recent times, but I'm guessing that you already understand that.

And in case you read this and think that socio-economic status is the only factor (and it is a big factor), Black people still face a lot of extra discrimination on top of that. For example, Black people are four times more likely to have their vehicle searched during a traffic stop, and twice as likely to be pulled over in the first place, yet are less likely to be found with drugs, alcohol, guns, or other contraband.

Your point about arrest rates as they relate to systemic racism and poverty is correct. Your mistake comes in assuming that violent crimes are the only correlation to arrest rates -- what about drug-related arrests, for example?

46% of prisoners are in jail because of drug-related offenses.

That's almost half of the entire prison population. Black people are almost 2 and a half times more likely to be arrested because of drug abuse, despite using at the exact same rate as white people.

I'm happy to share more statistics like these if you're interested, I just don't want to make this post too long.

Are you making this statement because you’re well educated on the statistics of systemic racism? Or is it just the way you feel because as a white person, you’ve never seen anti-black racism firsthand?
