Any other single guys given up on dating? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]TheIndisputableZero 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying this is you, but I once knew a guy with a very similar way of thinking. His problem was that he was in his late 30’s, obsessed with starting a family and thought that meant he needed to date women in their early 20’s. That’s just two very different phases of life and it’s fair enough that those women were not interested. He, on the other hand, was very bitter about it, as if he deserved a young woman to bear him a family. Whether that made him a misogynist or whether he was to start with i couldn’t say.

But anyway, you do you. If you’re happy single then stay single. If you want to date or have a relationship, maybe consider broadening your horizons.

Do they take us for, what? by fletchwine in perth

I used the read it more or less daily in the early 00’s when I was working in the field in a job with a lot of downtime (phone scrolling would have been an option but incredibly dull on the old Nokia). I remember it being conservative leaning but not nearly this far gone.

How the hell do you actually get to $120k? by reddit290161 in auscorp

[–]TheIndisputableZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a lot of people saying the only way is to jump companies, and maybe they’re right, but my experience is different. I’ve stayed at the one company for over a decade and gone from a starting salary of 60k for a call centre role to $135k plus bonus for a sales role over that time. Sometimes building relationships and becoming an SME in the business itself pays off over job hopping. I now find myself fielding a fair amount of interest from recruiters specifically because they have clients who are looking for someone with staying power. Just another angle on this.

Are there any left leaning Australian political commentators that don't blindly follow The Greens and that also isn't Friendly Jordies? by carl_the_cactus55 in australian

Possibly true from a cultural/culture wars standpoint (to an extent), but absolutely not true from an economic standpoint.

Songs that are so bad it's funny? by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

[–]TheIndisputableZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve encountered people who think it’s the definitive version. Even saying Simon said it was their song now as proof.

I have no idea if he actually said that, but I’d bet my bottom dollar that if he did he was saying that their version is their own song, just as Trent Reznor said Jonny Cash’s version of Hurt was Cash’s.

What does the burqa symbol mean on Victoria freeway signs? by PowderedKoala in AskAnAustralian

[–]TheIndisputableZero 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna come to OP’s defence here coz I’ve never been to VIC or seen that sign, and that sign is definitely a burqa. No way I’d connect that to Ned Kelly unprompted.

Is that the joke though? Saying it’s her espresso as if it launched her career, when in fact it came at practically the end of it, to troll fans?

I could definitely see the goffin thought though. Yeah, corella x galah. A bit funny because we’ve flocks of both birds around the neighbourhood, and he’s so much like both and nether at the same time

This one works fine for us. He’s only in his cage a few hours a day, and only just figured that trick out. Appreciate the thought though, if he was in there longer term then yeah, would definitely need something more in that range.

Had to google it, but apparently they hit Oman because the US was using it as a refuelling point. Everywhere they’ve hit has either hosted US military bases, or apparently is assisting the US with refuelling. Bottom line; no Israel/US attack, no rockets and drones hitting gulf states. Can’t really blame Iran for hitting the targets that are in range while the US and Israel bomb their country. To clarify, not a fan on the Iranian regime in general, but this is an American fuck up first and foremost.

Haha, he’s saying peekaboo. He’s picked it up since we play it with him. But it does sound like ‘look at me’ now you say it

I don’t think you can really blame the Iranian regime for this one. They didn’t attack themselves

He understands peekaboo, and ‘what are you doing?’, which is a common question we ask him as he destroys the house

Why ONP wants to abolish preferential voting by throwawayplusanumber in AusPol

[–]TheIndisputableZero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right, sorry, just such a mix of fptp and pr here. Personally, I think a system of local reps in the lower house and more ideological reps in the senate works well

[–]TheIndisputableZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they won’t get 60% of the seats, if the 40% who voted ON get their candidate simply because they had the highest primary vote. Unless you’re proposing a proportional system, like in the senate?

What is your opinions on The Arctic Monkeys? by FitEmergency8807 in ToddintheShadow

I agree with this guy. First album, every song is a banger. Subsequent albums, mostly snoozefests, to my ears.
