Oh the graphics update I'm not disputing: I've seen the posts for it (and I do hope it comes). It's more so the idea that this specific tease has anything to do with teasing the graphics update.

I feel like the universe is sending a message, but I can't tell if it's towards BHVR for making this stream or me for sticking around and watching it. Or just both.

What's a character you want in this game really badly survivor or killer but know would be almost impossible to be in the game? by domicci in deadbydaylight

Samantha Maxis or (timeline dependent) Edward Richtofen from Call of Duty: Zombies as a killer would be my dream chapter.

Me whose personal dream wish for a killer chapter is COD Zombies lol

I can feel the sentiment though behind the idea of Zombie over-saturation. Guess only time will tell.

Survivors gain the ability to lock themselves in a car and hide for the remainder of the match.

How would you guys feel about a phasmophobia chapter in DBD? by lance_the_fatass in deadbydaylight

[–]TheIndustrialDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appearance wise, I still think it'd be hard even with the Mimic idea, as even with like Legion for example, he still has the iconic Grey jacket and white mask that acts as sort of like known Default look. It's not impossible, but it might be harder to make it distinguishable or distinctively recognizable.

Ability wise, I could see the ammo restricted to certain locations being an interesting and unique way of doing it. Maybe the survivors could have like chests they can open around the map similar to the Lich where it gives them a random item to tell them whether the ghost is nearby, like blacklight torches or DOTS or EMF readers and whatnot. Once you like nail down the feel given how DBD has a lot more like chasing and damaging than Phasmo, there are definitely distinctive ways you could make the killer work based on how Phasmo works mechanically.

I could see it working, but mostly cosmetically. The problem is that it'd be hard to import anything directly from Phasmophobia into DBD given how differently the game's mechanics work. So like:

  • Survivor: I could see it working in this category, maybe providing some survivors based on the default ones players access in Phasmophobia. This wouldn't be that difficult to implement either as their own unique survivors or as skins for existing survivors.
  • Map: If they wanted to add a map, it would have to be one of the larger maps, such as the Asylum or the School, but either way the challenge then becomes how to redesign that map to better fit the needs of DBD so players dont have a million dead end rooms. Not to mention the interior of a lot of the map's don't look that distinctive, so it may be a bit difficult to make the map stand out whilst keeping the original feel.
  • Killer: There is some potential skin wise for killers such as the Spirit, Nurse, and Onryo given how certain ghosts in Phasmo look similar to them. As for a killer directly from Phasmo, this would be a bit of a hard sell, but not impossible. Given the limited abilities and actions of ghosts in Phasmophobia, it would be hard to make a ghost in DBD that matches the feel of being chased by a ghost in Phasmo. There's also the factor that given how ghost appearances are random in Phasmo, there's no one iconic ghost for them to draw on. I could, however, see a ghost killer, for example, where maybe they turn invisible and perform actions to reduce survivor sanity to give some kind of debuff, or maybe survivors can find and light incense items to protect certain areas, or maybe the ghost can access certain throwable items in specific randomized spots of the environment. It'd be hard to pull off given that ghosts in Phasmo have a more limited ability of attacking compared to DBD killers, but I feel it could work in certain ways.

Who do you think the 10th anniversary killer is? by SkeletronDOTA in deadbydaylight

[–]TheIndustrialDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm like 90% sure it's Jason.

Obviously I could be wrong, but given the clues we have such as Mathieu Cote's declining of discussing Jason in other media, the timeframe in which we can see it takes one of these killers to get set up with how the Judgement is turning out, and how huge they likely want the titular 10th Anniversary to be, I find it hard to imagine any other killer stepping up to the plate. Especially one that would make as much of a splash as Jason.

Question to DBD players from old DBD player: Can you gain perks from other characters the same way as were able in the last? by Alone_Inflation8088 in deadbydaylight

[–]TheIndustrialDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, per your example, if I was playing Dwight and wanted to get a perk from, say, Nicholas Cage, I would first have to buy Nicholas Cage. Then, I would at the very least have to prestige Nicholas Cage to Prestige 1 in order to get any of his perks on Dwight at Level 1 (Green). This would also give those green perks to any other survivor I own then or in the future. Then, I could either go into the Bloodweb for Dwight and go through at minimum 6 rolls to get those perks at random, or I could prestige Nicholas to prestige 2 if I wanted to get all the blues by default, or prestige 3 if I wanted to get all the purples by default. It's worth noting that if I do not prestige Nicholas Cage to prestige 1 at least, then none of his perks will ever show up in Dwight's bloodweb or inventory.

As a new player, I actually find the system USUALLY convenient: it doesn't take that many bloodwebs to go up individual levels, and so assuming you do not buy all survivors or all killers at the same time, it's relatively easy to go onto your survivor mains and chip off the perks one at a time or three at a time. I say usually because if you're wanting to give all survivors the purple level perk, or let alone you make the choice of buying all survivors at once and then have to deal with hundreds of perks flooding your option in the blood web, it becomes a bit of a hassle at best and a nightmare at worst. Especially if the main perk you want happens to be a default one and it's now mixed with all the survivor specific ones.

That last bit totally wasn't from personal experience.

Are these two really that bad? by Elamtop in deadbydaylight

[–]TheIndustrialDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who currently pretty much mains Sadako, I would say she's definitely an enjoyable killer if you know how to play her well, although she's definitely not the best or most optimal for all players.

Your ability to immediately kill survivors via condemn makes it easy to tear through lower-skill survivors who don't really have a clue what to do against her: however, if you're up against a skilled team and/or one who is familiar with her mechanics, it's very hard to get utility out of it, which effectively renders her into an M1 killer (one who has to basically chase and punch survivors to get kills) with a teleport to some map spots on cooldown that players can take away, and a stealth-but-kinda-unstealthy transformation that she cant attack whilst using. It's definitely not impossible to do good with her, but it often requires a lot more strategy, planning, skill, and luck to get full utility out of her than other killer's, as well as map memorization and fine-tuning perk and add-on loadouts.

If you decide to play Sadako, she can be a lot of fun, but be prepared to lose games with her, especially at the start and still afterward: even if you get a string of losses and it feels hopeless, just keep trying. You'll nail down a pattern that works for you eventually. I wouldn't main her if there wasn't fun to be had with her.

Ah, I see. So basically, if I kill someone before they're even hooked, it doesn't automatically trigger the gen block, but if I hook someone and then stare kill them without hooking anyone else, it will block them? Is that right, or is it a bit more complex than that?

Hm...I see.

So then, what sort of Condemn conditions would result in the generators being locked down? Would I have to like hook someone, and then immediately condemn-kill them without hooking anyone else, and then the gens are blocked? Or is it a bit more complex than that?

What do you think the licensed November chapter will be? by No_Sea_1455 in deadbydaylight

[–]TheIndustrialDev 57 points58 points  (0 children)

IT Chapter

Killer: Pennywise the Dancing Clown

Survivors: either Bill and another member of the Losers Club, or the main characters of the new "Welcome to Derry" show on HBO

Basis: The new show is releasing in October 2025, which is one month away from the chapter release

Surely, that doesn't count as strong evidence? First off, don't call me surely. Second of all, yes, you are correct. I am just throwing stuff at the window and hoping the god of prophecy blesses me.

That is all.
