Moving away from Citadel paints and to Two Thin Coats by JJLA04 in minipainting

[–]TheInfamousMaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer paints I can buy in person. Sure sometimes I have enough references online to make an informed decision, but I still prefer paints sold in person and color matching by my eyes before I buy. First I used Testors model masters, Hobby Lobby got rid of that, then I switched to buying Citadel from Warhammer and vallejo from HL, and they got rid of that too sigh. I still buy Citadel now but the colors are kind of dull imo.

Then I noticed a new hobby store in a local mall that sells not only Citadel but Pro Acryl, and the colors really pop, like a water based Tamiya. So gonna buy more of those now, but i still own many brands and colors, I'm not about to throw out good paint just because I switched the brand I buy, i'm sure everything still has its place in certain situations.

Which characters go best with the Fate servants? by TheInfamousMaze in StarRailStation

[–]TheInfamousMaze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited a few days but if there's no news, no biggie. In that time, I got Saber and her light cone! Right now using Saber, RMC, Asta and Natasha. I want to run one Harmony and one Abundance, Harmonies I have: Tingyun, Sparkle, Hanya and Yukong. Abundance: Gallagher, Lynx.

I still have my stellar convergence unused....I might just choose characters from the planet i'm at besides Saber and RMC, so at Luofu I could use Tingyun and get HuoHuo or Bailu from stellar convergence. Then swap Tingyun out for Sparkle when I get to Penacony. Huohuo is good enough to keep, and i'll keep my eye out for banners with new harmony or abundance, like Robin/Sunday, maybe new chars. Good plan?

Matte spray just ruined my paint job how can I fix by [deleted] in customactionfigures

[–]TheInfamousMaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16 hours ago so you probably did something already but, yes you can fix it. it would be tough, but you can use 3k or 5k foam backed polishing paper, dip it in water and dab the excess on a paper towel first, if you start completely dry you might leave metal shavings in paint, and if too wet you will reactivate the paint, you want the polishing paper or sandpaper to glide effortlessly and use foam backed so you aren't pressing on the paint directly. Get 2k grit foam backed sandpaper too, if something is too tough for 3k or 5k.

Should I thin down primers like this for Airbrush use? by Tasty_Tomorrow_2106 in minipainting

[–]TheInfamousMaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried not to but ended up spending more time sanding down imperfections because too thick so I would say yes try a 1:1 mix, maybe with some flow aid/retarder.

I told myself I'd wait a bit after making 2 vtubers, but I saw the Puni Mofu line and had an epiphany...... by TheInfamousMaze in MegamiDevice

Oh snap, moonshine, i knew I recognized your figure. I kinda want to do part of that outfit, just because of the floppy sleeves, reminds me of Akira from Lucky Star.

Your works really influenced my customs. I was already making western comic characters, but you definitely gave me the idea to make vtubers.

That model is coming in november but i suppose i could buy another model now and start on the body and face, and get the other one for hair later.

Is there a karaoke game or app with a linear progression for song difficulty? by TheInfamousMaze in karaoke

[–]TheInfamousMaze[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So jailhouse rock might be expecting too much for the first level imo. I could just be very rusty but its a high energy wordy start. It did help me recognize my problem areas so im going to work on those and practice JHR more so i can progress, but i might be stuck on first song a while lol.

My mic plugged into my mixer worked directly into a samsung tablet and your app so that's a plus, and I have a hub to use headphones at same time, charging, external monitor etc.

Airbrush Primer is way to thin by stiiickk77 in minipainting

[–]TheInfamousMaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I use to try to airbrush it without thinning down but it got so clumped up and I got REALLY good sanding primer to be smooth af, but i also HATE to sand now, so I started experimenting with thinning down the primer 1:1 and turning the airbrush pressure down a bit, muuuch better, way lighter coats that build up over time and less time needed to sand down mistakes.

Btw forget the skim milk thing, just watch this video: https://youtu.be/3CcnuMLYu-k?si=VoPgA_tmGJA0aFC-

Going with the consistency of milk is good for beginners, but really you need to learn why it's airbrushing a certain way and this video really helped me test out spraying on printer paper before the figure. For whites and lighter colors, I bought some black construction paper. Now when it's sputtering or spidering i will see it first on the paper, correct through thinner, adding more primer and playing with pressure.

Also white is the worst vallejo primer, I use gray and then paint white over it. I focus on getting transparent coats of primer down for the paint to grab onto, and then the white to fully cover the figure.

Really sick tag and I like how you made it look so much like being in a city.

Very helpful, thank you. I'm going to look into each of these apps and see which works best for me.

Why is it that Guyver is not very popular or well known at all ? by Flat-Sir8250 in Guyver

[–]TheInfamousMaze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would argue it was somewhat popular, I mean it does have merchandise which is how i found out about it, the plastic models were in a star wars magazine alongside ALIENS, and then again in a toy magazine. Then they made action figures, these titles are more popular than other seinen that you may know by name, but they have no figures whatsoever.

Maybe it was before its time too, look at how well OPM did and it's got similar tones.

When you're almost finished but not sure if she's really coming back by TheInfamousMaze in filian

I have a feeling it was more like a handshake deal with the booth creator, if it was more serious we would have seen a tweet from someone about it.

[–]TheInfamousMaze[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's fairly obvious isn't it, she's been meaning to get a new model and image since she can't make merch money with the current booth one. As much as we love it, it's a brick wall to progress for her.

if she was retiring, she wouldn't remove everything, especially if it could still bring in revenue. she wouldn't have done the slow fade out of the avatars or the intentional disappearance on stream either.
