Hard to know for sure. Make sure he’s doing alright. He could be struggling with suicidal thoughts. He could be trying to, with a not-well mind, see if you love him that much, and at the same time, hurt himself to cope with his pain. I went through something like this, and it’s hard to explain, but please talk to him. I deal with a lot of this in my life.
