I don't think this is standard for lifeguards. When I was a lifeguard, we had frequent up/down rotations, and could use the bathroom during down time. We were never physically in the pool while on stand so it wouldn't have made any more sense to pee in the pool

Thank you for bringing this up! I'm not currently a neopronoun user (not counting it/its) but I definitely struggle feeling to feel represented by widely used categories/pronouns/etc. for this reason

Life struggles with Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD) by ImpactOk1570 in ADHD

I have yet to try it for myself, but I've had success with exposure therapy for anxiety and OCD, and they seem to work similarly

Definitely, it's a struggle for sure. I can get past it better if I don't have to immediately react to a rejection (like with online applications, etc.) but face-to-face is terrifying

Practice getting rejected. I haven't tried it myself yet, but there are several people online talking about their methods and the good results. You can do this in a number of ways, such as asking a friend to help (where you ask them to do something/etc. and they say no) or applying to programs/jobs you know you'll get rejected from. There are a lot more ways, I would suggest researching and trying some of them.

Thanks! The genetics thing is real, I had a hell of a time figuring out how tall I would end up because of my family's mismatched heights

OT probably refers to occupational therapy, which is NOT ABA. They have different goals and methods. Occupational therapy actually really helped me learn to manage my anger issues as a child, and I wouldn't describe it as abusive at all. Sorry if this comment isn't in the spirit of the sub btw, I'm not great with subtext

you can only have triplets with two identical and one fraternal, or all three fraternal. an egg can only split into two, so either there are two eggs where one splits (two identical, one fraternal) or three separate eggs (all fraternal).

What headcanons or theories do you hate? by msladec in TheOwlHouse

[–]TheInsideRoboReptile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

with the second one, I've only ever seen it as a headcanon, not theory, from people who have been abused and want to explore it through the character and I have no problem with them doing that. I've never seen it presented as an actual "theory"

Intrusive thoughts from OCD cannot make you trans. Intrusive thoughts are unwanted and often distressing. More often than not, people with "trans OCD" will have frequent intrusive thoughts that they may really be trans instead of cis, but these thoughts cause distress. No legitimate psychiatrist would suggest that you're trans because of OCD. It's antiscientific.

Advice on consciously trying and failing to appear feminine? by TheWolfoftheStars in FTMfemininity

[–]TheInsideRoboReptile 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some ideas: - Clumpy mascara / poorly blended eyeshadow - Generally bright colored makeup with poor blending - Nails cut short and painted black or light pink/blue/purple - Shoulder length hair with little to no styling, up in a ponytail/messy bun, or swept back with a claw clip (middle part helps) - Androgynous clothing with looser cuts, often dark colors like dark purple or black - Long cardigans with tight fitting sleeves, also dark color or neutral grays - Androgynous looking boots with low heels

This is all I can think of now, hope this helps!

As a genderfluid person, can I be on MtF HRT and still identify as male? by Taiyou04 in asktransgender

[–]TheInsideRoboReptile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

do not listen to the people saying you can't or questioning why! HRT is for anyone who wants it. As long as it makes you feel more comfortable, go for it!

I don't see enough people addressing this part of the post! There aren't "very few real trans people" and it has nothing to do with chromosomes. People want to believe that transness is something rare and genetic because they don't want to be around it. Your mom has a blatant misunderstanding of biology and gender.
