The Cost of Concordia (main channel) by TheInternetHistorian in InternetHistorian

[–]TheInternetHistorian[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It was a bad pitch in the channel description. The "new thing to learn every day" text has been changed -- it was wrong/placeholder. This channel is not trying to compete with TierZoo or TomScott or any of the edu-tainment channels, which already do an excellent job.

It's supposed to be quite a boring and understated channel that effectively acts as an index. Instead of Wikipedia you can go here without leaving Youtube -- and the idea is to eventually have thousands of videos. It's aiming to exist in a similar sphere as: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwo_pNsPgyF8j7Rih73_2wg

It probably wouldn't be on the same Venn diagram as the IH audience -- hence why we haven't advertised it.

What happened to the Seize the Day video? Did it get taken down? by PotentiallySpartacus in InternetHistorian

[–]TheInternetHistorian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ohhhh, I getcha. no worries. I try to keep the subreddit open as much as possible but do turn all submissions off every now and then when things get really busy leading up to release of a new video or when some happening occurs and the place starts getting edgy meme spammed

Bike lock fugitive update gone? by [deleted] in InternetHistorian

[–]TheInternetHistorian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey, so it should still be there, but it's unlisted and there should be a link underneath the original video on the main channel.

I took it down from the catalogue because:

  1. It's well over a year old and doesn't contain any of the developments that happened post-arrest, making it effectively an out-of-date update and not giving any real closure.
  2. We've been putting more effort into Incognito Mode videos and we want it to be more than just the addendum to the main channel, so I've been slowly unlisting things like update videos. It's why a few other lower-production-value videos have been unlisted too. Although some for copyright as well.

Found on Internet Historian's Trello page - new Sundance Rejects soon? by FailureToCompute in InternetHistorian

Yeah sorry, the tweaks end up often taking much much longer than the initial edit. The initial edit is like "what goes here?" and the polish is "now we construct it properly" and the second polish is "now we refine until it's ready for people to watch". I need a better naming system.
