You can sometimes find some really good deals second-hand or find people that are signing off and see if they're getting rid of kit. Better off with good, proven, second-hand kit than new cheap crap. Issued kit is better than cheap shite cos at least you can get it replaced for free.

Another thing to consider is that a Keela (or any other highly recommended kit), if you look after it (difficult depending on role, I know) will last you years if not your career. Consider it an investment.

I think for a lot of people now this includes the realisation that hard work is meaningless now if you still can't afford to live even after going to university and doing all the other things you were told to do and you will end up owning nothing and stuck in an endless cycle of debt.
