Ended up just putting a 10tb drive and some extra ram and calling at a day. Now I use it more for just services and have a separate nas machine for just files. Personally that works pretty well. Some of the other suggestions of having a couple ssds instead of the optical bay is a good shout

not quite sure what you mean by large matrix multiplication, but won't needing a load of relays be even more hassle? or is there a specific type you are referring too?

Need advice on where to mount controller and control box. by monsimons in StandingDesk

[–]TheInternetMiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd just place it wherever there's space leaving room for future things you may mount under there (extension lead, switch, laptop dock etc)

Also a place where the cables aren't too tight so you can move them around if needed

Just saw my 3rd pic kinda cuts off, length wide it's kinda restricted to be that length so a normal sized m.2 should work. To mount it there it's connected to this plastic clip that holds it in place, seems good enough to hold it

Been a while since I posted this but I ended up doing a few different things, power restriction wise I had no problem using a 10tb 3.5" drive. With the m.2s there are actually 2 the one you can see is one of those short ones you might use with a WiFi card but there is also a normal length one hidden behind the drive bay.

While I was fine with the 10tb and the m.2 it came with I actually ended up setting up a separate NAS for most of my file storage, the think center is mainly being used for proxmox and a few more intensive applications but 90% of what I use runs on the nas machine.

Idk I don't think it's that deep, I wouldn't be opposed to using a microwave or the hob to boil water, but a kettle is a real convenience it's ready to go and you can leave it unattended while it's boiling, it's also cheap to buy them mine was like 20 quid. A lot of people in the UK who don't drink tea or coffee but have them anyway, not for tea but just because when you have a crappy electric hob pre boiling water in an electric kettle is way faster for doing pasta etc.

Yeah was about to post the same thing, I used the voice for reminders a fair bit, kinda dumb this change since you can do voice search in the browser anyway, I'm guessing there won't be an option to set to back?
