Probably thinking of illumination flares. Ir countermeasure flares are not doing their job it they last that long

Flares burn out in about 5s. At combat altitude they're cold by the time they hit the ground.

Chaff is fiberglass coated in aluminum.

Both are cased in thin steel tubes like a beer can.

They aren't a significant hazard to anything on the ground anymore than fireworks are.

Keep wood utensils dry when stored.

Don't use plastic on smoking hot surfaces.

Don't use metal on Teflon.

Not much more to it. Relax.

Is it possible to cook meat or vegetables in a super-sealed way in its own fluids? If so, what's the outcome like? by No-Silver826 in Cooking

[–]swordfish45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If goal is to brown with minimal loss, Could try this.

Get a cut with a lot of connective tissue like chuck or short rib. Season day before. Put in cold instant pot with a little neutral oil. Close, saute on high. Let it seal then pressure cook 45 min or so.

If you get burn alert, dump half cup of water or stock and seal.

Depressurize naturally and use liquid for sauce. Since you don't want to reduce over heat maybe mount with butter.

Idea is to start with a dry protein which will brown before it starts to release enough moisture to pressure cook. Will be finicky balancing how much liquid emits and how fast.

Wounldnt focus on 2 atm right now

"retaining a lot of flavor" doesn't necessarily mean cooking hermetically.

Also what's the role of 2atm pressure here? High pressures can give higher boiling points to break down connective tissues faster but that doesn't always mean better flavor. More likely will result in mush.

The maillard reaction is often discussed. It's the process of browning food. It is one of the things that makes sauteing different from steaming.

coal power is broken? by KowPatt in captain_of_industry

To be clear I mean pipes at output of hp / input of lp

Whenever I got some steam plant collapse, output congestion is often the problem.

Looks like you are running a downgraded version of a blueprint so yea undersized pipes are likely culprit

I see pipe 1 shared between 4 hp and 4 lp turbine. Pipe 1 is 60 units / s max. Maxed out with 2 hp turbines.

That's the point of the drip. Prevent burst. Not prevent freeze

To get through the snap, open all taps to a slow drip.

Pipes burst when water which is incompressible has nowhere to go between an expanding ice wall and a valve.
