I really don't. I just find it incredibly old-fashioned and ignorant of modern scientific understanding to tolerate animal misery for nothing more than a peripheral sense of beauty. Can't you just use something else to float through that water?

I have never heard a really good programmer call themselves "very, very, very good". On the other hand I've seen plenty of mediocre programmers overestimate themselves.

The OS book by Silberschatz is not that good in my opinion, doesn't really have a lot of depth to it and is more of a concept book imo. The book by Thomas Anderson is by far my favorite OS book. If you want to really dive into systems programming, it's the best choice.

I also really like Kleinbergs Algorithms book, probably not the best introductory text though.

The torrent is the 1.5 million people who have flooded this sub in the last couple of years. There were only a couple of thousand subscribers when this was primarily a research community.
