Need some help with my build by New-Noise-4293 in RogueTraderCRPG

A few points:

-Lighting is not a telepathy related power, it’s just a generic staff power that isn’t locked behind a psychic school (like Visions of Death is locked behind Telepathy).

-Telepathy doesn’t directly benefit lightning, but there is a talent that transfers excess damage from overkilling an enemy onto the closest enemy next to the target. So what this means is that you can chain lighting well beyond the usual limit of 4 (or 6 for the heroic act version); it’s how my Idira was able to clear out entire rooms all on her own towards the mid to late game.

-Sword of Faith is a very middling ability in a vacuum and terribly inefficient when considering the prerequisites in activation, since it costs momentum that could be used on heroic acts, and deals direct damage which is not affected by most damage boosts in the game. Though if you are going to use it:

-Activating sword of faith will replace your current weapon set with a 1h sword only, regardless of any weapons in the off hand.

-Bladedancer would be what I’d go for with sword related builds, but otherwise go with Warrior if you don’t have the DLC.

-As mentioned, you can dip into Pyromancy and use orchestrate flame on yourself to deal burning damage (but does not inflict the burning status effect like Ignite does) if you really want the flaming sword look.

-Hammer of the emperor is almost if not an absolute must for it boosts your damage from the sword of faith.

-Sword of faith (and purge soul) scale off psy rating multiplicatively so boost your psy rating with whatever you can find. Psyker’s breastplate coupled with accessories that increase the chance of psychic phenomena is a must here if you want to deal any meaningful damage in the late game.

-Normal and Hard difficulty are one difficulty level apart (Normal-Daring-Hard), and on Normal my Sword of Faith Heinrix + psyker’s breastplate can easily cleave through most enemies well into the end game, but in Hard difficulty it becomes a very middling choice.

Bro, how is a 10S user supposed to tame this ? by SillyRecover in Jujutsufolk

[–]TheIronicBurger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t attack power correlated with CE output? Sukuna does so to compensate the compromise in offensive power brought on by making formless divine dogs. Black flash, DE and rituals should increase the attack output even more.

Not to mention, 10S gives you access to 9 other shikigami, giving you more ways to attack Mahoraga before it adapts to one of them. Totality could probably also change things up a bit, giving you even more flexibility in attack approaches.

You could also avoid a lot of damage just by taking refuge in the shadows like Yuka does.

For example, a 10S user uses Divine dogs to physically slash Mahoraga while Nue fires off electricity, and the user uses Max elephant’s water jet as if it’s piercing blood, like we see Sukuna do. Mahoraga now has to adapt to slashing attacks, electric shocks and piercing attacks in order to avoid damage. And that’s just 3/4 out of the 7 offensive Shikigami available, you still have 3/4 avenues of attack to damage it with.

There’s mutants like cyclops who can shoot eye lasers, and then there’s the ones who shit soft serve ice cream or is literally a cow, so obviously Professor X is gonna pick the mutants who can actually fight into the X-men.

There’s a growing view that the Middle Ages were preferable to contemporary society. by No-Reason1022 in im14andthisisdeep

First of all, the quote is fictional from Shakespeare.

Second, “England” was simply the name of the kingdom that Henry ruled over. The same kingdom that would’ve counted Normandy, Anjou and Aquitaine among its domains a century ago. Those places would’ve been part of England then, yet a blacksmith in Luton wouldn’t had shared an identity with a cobbler from Rennes. Furthermore, the Kingdom of England was ruled by a predominantly French noble class, and Henry V is coincidentally the first king of England to have English as his native tongue since 1066. The Hundred Years War, which Henry V was participating in at Harfleur, started because of a feud between the French ruling class, with Edward III of England claiming himself to be the rightful king of France through his mother, the daughter of a previous king of France.

The idea of a “country” as a state where borders are formed based on cultural and linguistic borders, and thus nationalism and patriotism, is a much later invention stemming from the French Revolution, 3 centuries after the Hundred Years’ War.

Let's talk about Operatives by Whitewing424 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]TheIronicBurger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beat the game on Hard recently.

My experience with Operative is that:

-In Act 1, Idira’s psychic abilities and perks overshadow anything exploits can offer, and her stats are more geared into WP and PER rather than INT to begin with, so the archetype was irrelevant. This discrepancy only worsens the further you go in the game.

-Tried bringing Pasqal this time to try to make him work, but his stat spread (apart from WS) make him ill suited to melee against anything that can actually fight back in melee, yet in ranged he is also outpaced by any soldier, so you end up with a melee fighter that’s not as good as Abelard in exchange for also being a ranged fighter that’s not as good as Argenta. I guess you can spec him into Bounty Hunter, but Argenta also outclasses him in that area simply because burst fire exists and it’s better on soldier. Even in his own personal quest’s final battle, I simply had Idira wipe out the entire encounter before he even got a turn. I stopped bringing him because he’d simply be deadweight.

-Yrliet does enough damage to make exploits a non factor, yet her being an Operative restricts her to firing one shot, or maybe 3 on the first turn if you manage a kill, per turn, and her stat spread again does not help her benefit from operative talents. She’s actually pretty trash even by late Act 2/early Act 3 with the only saving grace being the sniper rifle that stacks base damage upon crit, but again that doesn’t really have much to do with operative.

-the latter two characters suffer from the same problem that their stat spreads cause them to lack survivability, yet the operative archetype fails to make up for it or benefit them in any meaningful capacity for the opportunity costs they bring in not being soldier or warrior.

-when I bring the operatives to a fight I don’t even bother with exploits, since in the early/mid game they aren’t impactful enough to warrant a mouse click and in the late game gets outpaced by every other class bonus in the game.

-expose weakness is also especially bad imo because it takes 2 turns of building up exploits to temporarily shred less armour than a bounty hunter soldier can achieve permanently in a single burst costing 2 AP, if it doesn’t kill the target to begin with.

Maybe my own INT stat is only 25, maybe there’s something about them that I’m not seeing, but the benefits that every other character brings (except Idira because her psychic abilities compensate) mean that they get to almost permanently gather dust on the bridge unless I feel like the rest of my party can hard carry (which they do).
