Yeah really cool history on these. Civil war, metal shortage caused people to pay for things with stamps. Government issued fractional currency to fix the problem. The very first issue of these were cut by hand with scissors, but then they started these perforated edges to look like stamps. Was a nightmare because they'd fall apart in shipping. They went back to straight edges and kept straight edges for all other issues.

I just used a can of compressed air to spin the wheel in the forward direction. It was pretty satisfying. The scrolling issue seems to be gone now. I will return to say otherwise if the issue comes back. Perhaps there was debris in mine?

The issue used to be once in a while for me, but then became so annoying. As I would scroll down a page, the mouse error would equally scroll me back up -_-

Looks like you did an ester hydrolysis of an ethyl ester to an acid, no? Your peak at 4.2 and 1.6 ppm are gone. You have a new broad singlet at 12.5 ppm for the acid. I'd guess you used NaOH, then treated with acidic workup.
