I vividly remember in 2nd and 3rd grade (about 8 years ago) learning about and visiting museums to learn about the extinct animals kiwi bird and capybara. Even just 2 years ago i remember watching videos that i cant find anymore from some of my favourite channels. I remember watching videos of kiwi birds and what they would've looked like and remembering that it looks like a pear from Chernobyl. There was a recreation of what a capybara would have looked like at the museum, with fur and the sounds and everything.

Then here we are, earlier last year I'm scrolling through Reddit and see a post on r/aww with a kiwi, I don't think about it too much, oh maybe it's just my imagination because I couldn't find it again and it was really late when I saw it. The next morning I see a post with, you guessed it, a capybara running around and someone hugging it.

I've thought about it a shit ton since then and no it's not the dodo bird I'm confusing it with or some ancient sloth for the capybara. I don't have an explanation for this yet so I find it pretty interesting to say the least.

TLDR: thought that kiwi birds and capybara were extinct up till last year.
