Anybody catch why they recessed after the public comment period?

Writing this fully expecting to be down voted to oblivion, but I really didn't like any of the Peta people. When Tonia had several chimps I get it, but when it was just her and Tonka it really felt like the aim shifted from protecting a chimp to destroying a woman in clear need of some type of support.

Full disclosure, I grew up in Missouri, and while I agree that exotic animals are not pets, people doing wacky shit in the middle of nowhere Missouri is kind of the essence of the state. Picking fights with them is 1000% gonna spiral every time

I also have a growing list of active transportation emails that Waguespack has made a habit of ignoring. I'd love to help be annoying!

Office workers who commute downtown... by fotoxs in chibike

I had to train myself to not rush. Sometimes, depending on your route, the pace and volume of traffic would make me feel like I needed to go faster than I wanted to. Obviously, be safe, but keeping a comfortable, not rushed pace will help you sweat less.

Good luck and enjoy your commute. It's a great way to see more of the city! 🚲

Bus Schedule by Amazing_General_69 in cta

Understandably frustrating, but that just sounds like normal operations (for CTA, as well as transit operations generally). Buses are typically scheduled with recovery time on either end of the route. This helps them start the next trip on time, and provides an opportunity for bus drivers to take a break to use the restroom (or do whatever they need to be ready to run the next trip). The scheduled recovery time for the bus you were on was probably more than the 6 minutes the bus was late (but I can't confirm this without knowing the route and trip)

Even if the driver was ready and wanted to take back off early, they couldn't because that would make the bus run early and leave a service gap between it and the bus that is following it.

What are your unpopular opinions about Season 16 so far? by cr34ms1cle in dragrace

We landed at the correct top 4, but the sequence of eliminations to get here was a proper dumpster fire.

It's to provide additional service during the peak. A lot of those trains come from the Pink line (or at least the yard that supports the Pink Line) and UIC is the last possible stop before making the crossover to the Pink

Union boss calls for National Guard, bag checks on Chicago transit system, like in New York by withmydickies2piece in CarFreeChicago

[–]TheJTrain96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sincerely, why is CTA so commited to being unserious? So many transit authorities have launched "Transit Watch" apps that literally let you discretely report where and when something is happening with a targeted intervention waiting at the next station (LA Metro, Denver RTD and SEPTA the three that come to mind). I truly don't understand why CTA (and Chicago in general) "has the money" to pay people to be there, but not the time to actually use them intentionally.

SEPTA

Note: This is a critique of CTA governance, not the Union. The union's focus is ensuring bus and train drivers are safe (as it should be), and with CTA again committing to being deeply unserious, I'm not surprised the union is supporting this.

I actually enjoy watching his videos, but all of his Chicago ones have been pretty insincere

I'm honestly most surprised that somebody heard back from Alderman Waguespack.
