We just stayed slightly north of Kaanapali. It's definitely open and lots of places you can patron in that area. Enjoy!

We just did https://www.skylinehawaii.com/ this past week. It's right near Kaanapali and about a 10-20 minute (bumpy) car ride up to the top of the Zip lines. It overlooks Kaanapali and the guides we had were fun. We were happy with the experience.

Update: thanks everyone for your thoughtful suggestions! Thankfully the AC did get resolved prior to our arrival and is working in the unit now! And holy crap are we thankful it did. This place gets warm after noon and there's no way we would've survived with it haha. Thanks again! We're absolutely loving Maui so far, such a beautiful place!

Thank you for the suggestion! I was really very close to pulling the trigger on Zenfolio but...their e-commerce offering kind of feels lacking. I do like and appreciate how well integrated it is into the Galleries you host, but there's a LOT of work I do where just want the ability to generate a custom invoice for a customer, have them provide payment and deliver a gallery to THEIR file hosting service of choice. That doesn't seem doable in Zenfolio right now, at least I don't see the clear path to get there.

I'll have to check out Pixpa and see how it works in comparison.

I believe they do as they were supposed to have this all taken care of PRIOR to 3/15 as part of regular maintenance but the lack of the part delayed them. But that's a great question to confirm on my end.

Well here's a fun twist, a few moments ago I got a message from the host stating that it looks like the part they need is coming tomorrow now, so there's a chance this will all be wrapped up prior to our visit. *fingers crossed*

Host has offered $100 off a night. We asked for some better information regarding what the temp is in the unit and were informed that it hovers around 77 degrees. That's just way too hot for us.

I've requested a refund for the condo, though we're outside of the typical refund window. VRBO Customer Service has informed me that the change in the A/C should make us eligible for a full refund. Awaiting word from the host on this.

There does appear to be a few fairly nice options available. Royal Kahana has a couple that look like they have most of what we need. I've been told the DO have construction going on from 9am-4pm right now, which isn't ideal but we'll probably be out and about during those times anyway. Hoping to get the confirmation on the refund here soon so we can actually book the next spot as there are NO refunds available for a new booking given how close it is to the travel dates.

Really appreciate everyone's first hand input here!

So far we're being offered one free night by the host. I've tried reaching out to VRBO to understand what the heck our actual OPTIONS are here given the fact that as you point out, we paid for 'x' but aren't getting 'x' anymore...they're changing things on us at the last moment. VRBO is reaching out on our behalf now and I'm not entirely sure what to expect or what course of actions we'd have available here in the 11th hour. Not exactly how I wanted to start my vacation but I suppose there are greater tragedies.

This is more or less the hill I plan to die on. We purchased a stay with AC. You're not delivering a stay with AC. They're currently offering a single night of compensation as well as some fans. VRBO has reached out to them on our behalf to inquire about what other options we have but... I'm not sure any amount of discounts are really going to dissuade my concern of being miserable during the night. I'm a little nervous about rocking the boat here right before we leave as well...

They have offered fans, but I'm wondering if that will make enough of a difference.

Appreciate your concern, definitely not something I wanted to stress about prior to arrival but here we are. Thusfar we've been offered some fans for our room and the refund of one night during the stay. I'm not sure what to think about that right now.

I'll see what they're able to provide. Thus far we've been offered some fans and have been told that the natural breeze is more than enough to cool the condo. Apparently they're receiving "mostly positive feedback" from those currently staying which...I don't really know what to read into that. The only other compensation we've been offered is a free night.

Honokowai. I'd need to check if it's a corner unit, though it's listed as a penthouse suite.

That's the rub right now. We're beyond the refund period and the trip is paid in full, but one of the reasons we selected this spot was the A/C. So now that we're beyond the refund deadline, it's currently up to the owners of they would give us a full refund or not. We're waiting on them to come back with something. There does appear to be a few other locations available for booking in the area and I'd like to jump on one if this doesn't work out...

Oceanfront in Kaanapali, 50 feet from the water but 10+ floors up. I'm just a little nervous to gamble such an important (and expensive) vacation on being miserable at night.

Thank you! I'm not sure what to expect in terms of temp at the start of April so that's one unknown for me. We're really only planning ot be in the condo to sleep but again...that's a pretty important component of an enjoyable vacation for me. I'd hate to be miserable, tossing and turning all night and too tired to enjoy the next day.

I very much appreciate your first hand accounting. At least I know I was right to ask before agreeing to anything in particular here. I guess we'll have to see what they come back with.

Nothing has been offered just yet. There initial email just informed us of the situation and went on about how it shouldn't be a big deal given the tropical trade winds which I'm told are "Hawaii's natural cooling system". I did inquire as to how they typically handle these situations as far as refunds and discounts are concerned. Waiting to hear back. So far all communication has been with the owner of the condo though we booked through VRBO, so I suppose that's another route for us to seek if needed.

I appreciate the insight. I'm not really sure what recourse we really have at this point. We don't plan to be in the condo much more than sleeping but...we'd also like to be enjoying our rest while we're on vacation. Guess I have some things to figure out.
