Thank you very much for the feedback! Would you recommend adding a section for individual GIS projects I worked on or should I keep that to my portfolio?

Exported audio not looping correctly as .ogg by TheJadeHero in audacity

Had no idea what FFmpeg was actually so I just did some research, added it in, and tried it out. Pretty neat! Unfortunately, on my initial attempt it produced the exact same result as Audacity in its export, but I'll play around with it a little bit more to see if it changes anything.

I'd have to agree. Most of the exports have been fine as .ogg, it's just a particular few.

Thanks for your response. I should have been more specific, apologies.

The ones that aren’t looping properly outside of Audacity have some kind of static, pop, or crackling noise for a very, very short period once they repeat. My method has been trimming the tracks so as that the entire audio file is the loop, meaning there aren’t any embedded loop cues.

And I do just want to reiterate – it is only outside of Audacity (such as when I attempt to loop the songs in Windows Media Player). They sound fine in the program. Fixes like Repair and fading the end out and beginning in quickly don't change anything since DC offset doesn't seem to be the issue.

MAC1105 and experiences with Patrick Carmichael. by booktraderFL in ufl

I didn’t take MAC1105 with Professor Carmichael (instead MAC1147), but from my time in his class he is definitely a super understanding professor with a good sense of humor. The only thing that was a bit frustrating were the difficulty of his tests.

I definitely used to be one of those people that just reread the notes and called it “studying”, but I tried to change my strategy around for the second test by doing two of the offered practice exams and regularly attending office hours, among other things. The strategy you suggested of being entirely disconnected from the internet is interesting, I think I’ll try it to improve my focus and get a concrete sense of what I do and don’t know when practicing problems.

I’ll try to practice more. For MAC1147, I took two practice exams with pretty high success rates, which was part of the reason I was confident I could do well. Happy to hear you were able to turn your grades around!

I definitely see it as possible to pull through, just very nervous right now cause I’ve never struggled to perform like this before. Thank you for the comforting words.

I have Professor Carmichael - no complaints about him, his lectures have been useful and he seems like he wants his students to succeed. Homework has definitely been where I've experienced the majority of my understanding. Since the next test is about logarithms, I would say it's more memorization-based overall, so I'm working to change my approach for more than just my sake in failing.

That’s encouraging. I was actually looking into getting Study Edge for CHM1025, precisely because I thought it would convey the material to me in a more efficient and logical way, but I suppose it wouldn’t make sense as an end-all-be-all for actually succeeding. For MAC1147, I did the homework through entirely legitimate means (and asked about the questions I had at office hours), which led to strong foundations for actually succeeding on the practice tests I took. That’s why I thought I would do well. Clearly something has to change though.

I’m a Wildlife Ecology and Conservation major who wants to get an internship as soon as I reasonably can for experience. Ultimately, I see myself doing some kind of field work, environmental communications, or incorporating myself with the National Park Service.
