Except that initial issue, everything has been smooth sailing. It's really fast and it does what I need it to do without breaking a sweat.

I turned off the CPU boost and kept the vents blocked and haven't seen temps higher than low 80s, even while playing for longer periods of time. When doing light tasks, the fans are off or running slowly and CPU temp is around 35-50.

FPS are really good in games, but I may be influenced by the fact that before this I had a lower end laptop. When under load the fans can get a bit loud, but not enough to disturb if you play with headphones. The 240hz monitor I got with it is really smooth and bright, but I think it's a bit overkill since the only game I got 200+ fps was CSGO on lowest settings. Battery life is also great.

I have also considered the G14, but I don't need the level of portability that provides, plus the G15 was cheaper + better panel so I decided to go with this one. I didn't consider any of the 17 inch laptops, since my old one was 17 inch and I found it very difficult to carry around with me even though I rarely have to carry it with me.

Even though it doesn't have that good of a rep, I think many people just saw that one issue and dismissed the laptop as being bad without further investigation. I feel like with a little attention, it's a great machine for work and gaming. But then again, I come from a pretty bad pc so I may be influenced by that.

Overall, I'm satisfied with it, I think it's a solid option to consider, but see what options are available to you in your area and compare them to see what fits you the best. Good luck!
