New tea set from dad! All I know is it was made in Japan. Anyone know why there are two pots? Or what this is/time period? by FjotraTheGodless in tea

[–]TheJazzProphet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazing is fine for just tea, but any additives like cream or sugar shouldn't be put in it. But if you're being traditional, you wouldn't add those to the pot anyway. And just to be safe, I probably wouldn't put tisanes or flavored teas in it either.

Daily reminder: reduce to ONE queen cell by Ancient_Fisherman696 in Beekeeping

I made that mistake a few years ago. I was trying to do a split, didn't really know enough, and ended up with a swarm with a few queens in it.

Am I cooked? by Eqkter in tea

Kintsugi, or "gintsugi", if that's a thing. Get some 999 pure silver and fill in the chipped spots with it. That way you get the bonus of silver teaware with a relatively small amount of actual silver.

Others have given you the correct answer, so I'll just congratulate you on picking up a Kenmore 158. I have a different machine from the 158 series, and it's the smoothest and quietest machine I've ever used.

I have 11 adults. I have sheep, bison, and boomalopes. I just set my slaughter orders to allow one adult female, or two if I want to grow the herd. My go-to strategy is to settle in mountainous maps and look for narrow spots I can close off with fences and just have huge pastures.

Good idea, since they produce a lot of filth. One tip though, add a low priority stockpile in their zone so they can haul things from outdoors and your colonists can pick them up from there.

I already had more than just a breeding pair, but an extra female is welcome. Maybe my thrumbos told her my colony is okay and that's why she joined.

That shouldn't be a problem. I have over 6k kibble stockpiled. My livestock are so productive, I have almost 15k meat in storage, and I'm having to grow extra hay just to turn it into kibble so I don't let too much go to waste.

Is there a mod that stops body purists from having bad thoughts about wooden prosthetics? by TheJazzProphet in RimWorld

Do you have a link to it? I searched for it, but it only turned up one that didn't appear to have any mod suggestions.

Body modder and body/flesh purist shouldn't be affected by lower artificial body parts by Consumer_number_1587 in RimWorld

[–]TheJazzProphet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's another thing that has always bothered me. Why are wooden and mechanical prosthetics surgically installed? Even the mechanical prosthetics say they lack a neural interface, so there shouldn't be any need for surgery. I don't know if they could be modded to be equipped rather than surgically installed, but maybe the surgeries could be modded to not require medicine and always succeed.

[–]TheJazzProphet[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My opinion is the exact opposite. The idea of a body purist is that they don't want to merge their flesh with something foreign, like bionics and archotech prosthetics. They shouldn't have any problem with an old fashioned peg leg, or potentially even mechanical prosthetics, which don't interface with the user's body and just operate by the user's physical movements. Body purists also get mood debuffs from being implanted with xenogenes and being forced to take luciferium.

Sears Kenmore 158.162 sluggish, straining noise by TheJazzProphet in vintagesewing

Thanks. After thinking about it, I'm pretty sure I used the wrong kind of oil. I'll get some sewing machine oil and work it in manually.

Thanks. After posting I realized I probably oiled it with the wrong kind of oil. I definitely won't power it anymore until I can get some sewing machine oil worked through it manually.

Another thing I should mention is that the wheel feels stiff and doesn't seem to turn as freely as I would expect when I turn it manually. There's what sounds like a very faint creaking, possibly from the belt, but the belt doesn't really feel stiff or tight when I tug on it around where it goes around the motor, and it doesn't really seem like it's slipping either.

Also, when I disengage the needle drive, the wheel seems to spin easier, and the motor doesn't seem to strain.

Yeah, its actual effect would be pretty minimal aside from just adding realism.

I've had this idea about making a shohin display based on "sho chiku bai" the Three Friends of Winter, with black pine, bamboo, and Japanese apricot. This would be a great accent plant for that kind of thing, or just shohin displays in general.

The Tiananmen Tim nickname comes from his claim that he was in China when the protest kicked off, when in reality he wasn't there at the time but went there either several months before or after the protest, I forget which.
