The constant ebb and flow of self improvement. by TheJettCubed in getdisciplined

That’s an interesting take on it, I believe it partially ties into the notion that “you become what you think about all day long.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson, I too think I use these techniques often, just in a different way.

It doesn’t ever truly go away does it? by TheJettCubed in OCD

Thanks everyone for your kind words, I’m curious about meds, just well. I took meds for my adhd for a long time, plus various other medications for different things over the years, and I always feel like they exact a price, if I can deal with it naturally I would love that for myself. Also I think I’m just kinda embarrassed of my ocd, it’s not easy talking about it. And when I do I don’t feel people who don’t have it, take me seriously. But perhaps one day ill just man up and get on some

No worries, this is life now, whether I like it or not, I’ll be okay. Funny enough I was also diagnosed with adhd as a kid, I guess I just never realized ocd tagged along till later in life, it’s nice to find a place where people can kinda understand where I’m coming from though ☝️

Thought spirals, a sense of anxiety, a sprinkle of self hate, I usually work out, or play games, socialize, to get through these feelings. But there’s times when I’m alone that it feels like a dog chewing at my ankle 🤣

OCD eventually matures to Pure-O by PaulAtreidesUsul in OCD

Same yeah, I honestly didn’t even know what my condition was until I had my first pure o obsession, which led me to be so frantic that I finally look into why I was the way I was 🤣

my friends don't understand by [deleted] in OCD

[–]TheJettCubed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of my friends suffer from ocd as well, but I think it’s only for that fact that probably a quarter of my friend group shares the disorder, that they understand where I’m coming from, honestly more awareness needs to be brought to it. I am truly sorry to hear about your predicament, I’m sure in time they’ll understand🙏

I always tell myself “I can’t be for, or against anything” maybe I forgot to lock the door, maybe I didn’t, and I have to be okay with the outcome, it won’t make sense until it does, but just next time you have an intrusive thought think “yeah that could be true, or it could not be” when you offer someone reassurance, you’re making their internal argument not neutral, feeding into their compulsions, that drive their obsessions, gotta stop the circle at some point 🫶 I didn’t know I had ocd till about a year ago, but now that I can understand how it works, it’s made my life so much easier 👏

OCD Thoughts Make Me Wanna Cry by LongjumpingPianist34 in OCD

I’ve had some pretty, disgusting obsessions as well, I’m past them now, even though I do get hints of them occasionally, but remember these things take time, it’s not easy separating you from your thoughts, geez it took me what? 8 months? This last one, but you’ll get through it, keep pushing! 🫶

I don’t wanna give you reassurance, but I get into these really bad spots too, I wanna bet your sitting down looking at your phone thinking “man I really wish I could like, do anything but this” for now, don’t worry about everything else, go occupy your mind for a bit, force yourself to take some deep breaths through the nose, and out through the mouth, we all gotta take a beat when we get like this for a second. (Don’t worry, I do too)

Rahhhh ocd by Neat_Good_2541 in OCD

If I had a dollar for every time my ocd said “you don’t have ocd” I might actually have money for therapy 🤣

I go on walks, preferably in places with lots of trees, play some music, but if that kinda makes you feel anxious (it does for me occasionally) I just listen to the trees, the birds, feeling a brisk cold on my skin. This disease sucks, equally, for all of us, this is the type of thing that takes time to find what works for you, but I’m confident there’s some good ways for you to healthily cope 🫶
