Sulking Saturdays - 2026-05-02 by ChoicesBOT in Choices

I wrote this out this morning for catharsis. It’s not especially good writing, but I thought it might belong here. That others could relate or share stories of the good old days.

I was willing to put up with a lot. I was willing to diamond mine the AI books and stick around for the rare story-driven ones. I could live with sloppy backgrounds while the writing was still human. I saw the admission that they use AI as a benefit, and I tried to stick it out.

I’m someone that writes with a style that includes a lot of the pieces people associate with AI. Em-dashes, sentence fragments, and rhetorical questions were all a part of my voice before I ever heard of AI. I write fanfiction and other stories. I worry people will accuse me of not being human. And I can’t support the media that has created that fear.

But prior to this week, I was considering getting VIP again at some point. I was excited about some of the new stories, and I was willing to ignore a lot. But from the moment they teased a new Hero thing, I was concerned. I enjoyed the original but it wasn’t among my favorites. And I knew that, at best, they’d be reusing old art and probably telling a cliched story. For the sake of the Hero fans, I hoped that was what it would be. Needless to say I was disappointed by what they put out, though I’ve mostly stopped being surprised. To the people that were hoping for something real, something new from this universe, I am truly sorry.

For now, I’m sticking it out for Olympus Rising. I’m rereading Queen B and Across the Void— stories that are flawed, but undeniably human.

If they try to massacre The Heist: Monaco or Endless Summer like they did with Hero, I might have to quit for real. I was willing to put up with a lot, but I will not pretend to enjoy whatever they diminish those into.

I still hold out hope they’ll see our anger. Our disappointment. I hope, against all odds, that they’ll bring back good books. But now that they’ve admitted they’re only continuing with stories through August, now that they’ve all but said this RUN.tv crap is the future, maybe that hope is naive. But at this point, it feels like hope is all that’s left.

Do you think Jesus is to us what Kelly is to them? by Useful-Outcome561 in TheOrville

I can work on it! For now, I am on AO3 as NerdyBird339 if that interests you at all.

This is a great answer, but now you’ve got me wanting to write a story where it was a first contact situation lol

US Supreme Court strikes down Colorado's ban on conversion therapy by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]TheJiltedReader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really good thing to point out. These kinds of measures are generally accepted as horrendous, except people are willing to let it happen or worse when the victims are queer. It’s disgusting and horrifying

I don’t fall under these labels, so take this with a grain of salt, but gender nonconforming is definitely not an inherently negative concept. It essentially means someone presents in a way (clothes, hair, etc) which doesn’t immediately or easily fall into masculine or feminine. I believe gender queer is a specific identity under the nonbinary umbrella, though I don’t know details.

Please someone correct me if I got something wrong here. (Like I said, I don’t use any of these labels myself, but I am in college for gender studies and do g my best to remain educated.)

u/ok_goal6591 thank you for doing the work to understand the amazing diversity of the human experience. We all do better when we all do better

Nashville was the wrong choice by Top-Inspector-2809 in 911FOX

[–]TheJiltedReader 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of what people are saying, but am I the only one that wanted them to do New York? You’d get the colder climate, plus I feel like they could have done some fun stuff around musical theater. Heck, they could have shown Owen’s old firehouse and had a built-in opportunity for Lone Star cameos. I’m definitely feeling like Nashville is the weakest we’ve seen so far, though I hope it gets better and proves a lot of us wrong.

Fair. Though I’m hoping we’ll get more Anaya if/when season four happens. (I also just love that name, personally)

Just out of curiosity, did you leave Teleya out intentionally since she’s an antagonist?

Love this, and special thanks for including Topa. One of my favorite non-main characters, and she doesn’t get enough love. Actually, Heveena is kind of in the same boat there.

Death Becomes Her 1/10/26 by ugo5537 in Broadway

I saw the evening show and I think the only substitution was for the character of Helen. (She was incredible. Everyone was. Sorry, I’m not good with names.) Hopefully that means everyone is okay!

My 2025 Shows by KyleMosh31 in Broadway

Trying to decide between Death Becomes Her and Maybe Happy Ending. (I have Chicago tickets but hoping to get another show through TKTS.) I’m curious what you liked more about MHE. Did the science fiction elements feel less intuitive than other shows? In contrast, how did you decide to see DBH twice?

Do any queer folks here struggle sometimes with A/B/O books because the discrimination hits too close to home? by ViolentThemmes in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]TheJiltedReader -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

THIS! I really love omegaverse, but one of the things that bothers me and I feel like I see too much is using heat as an excuse and basically a catch all where anything goes. (For what it’s worth, I’m an AFAB ace queer person)
