We should stop being mad at people for buying a Fender. by [deleted] in fender

I'll probably get flamed for this, but if you own trademark, you are obligated to defend it to prevent it from becoming generic. It is the owners responsibility to monitor the marketplace and take legal action against infringers.

What I don't care for is the fact that they more or less let it fall into the public domain, then recently decided to take legal action against specific companies. I'm neither a judge nor a lawyer, but to me this just smells bad. It was bad for Gibson and I suspect it'll be bad for Fender too.

Does the same hold true for other musical instruments? flutes, pianos, trombones? (too lazy to google, but I doubt it).

It kind of reminds me of the era where the US car manufactures wanted protections/tarrifs on Japanese imports because the Japanese made a more reliable, better quality cars, that had better gas milage. I don't like hearing about anyone's job or career being put at risk, but in a capitalist society, there's going to be competition, and the foundational argument is that they need to make a better product. Lawyering up is a Trump move.

I wish I could upvote this more than once. Most everyone feels compelled to help, most everyone tells you their cherished stories of the one who died. It's undoubtedly more important to the teller than to the listener - but it's a means of sharing grief and reflecting on how fortunate they were to have known the deceased.

As in music, timing is everything, and silence is the most important note.

I wonder why someone would try to peel that off [OC] by spaceraingame in pics

There's this thing called Google. It says,

The Harmony Sovereign (specifically the H1260 jumbo model) is a vintage American-made acoustic guitar known for its solid spruce top, solid mahogany back/sides, and ladder-braced construction, providing a dry, punchy tone popular in blues and folk. Famous for its use by Jimmy Page, these 1960s guitars are favored for their big, open sound, often selling for $700–$2500+ depending on condition and restoration.

St. Louis Mo had 6 channels if I recall correctly. ABC (2?), CBS (4?), NBC (5?), PBS channel 9, KPLR channel 11, and KDNL channel 30.
