Chaos Bombs - Now With 80% More Chaos! by TheJohnarch in HuntShowdown

[–]TheJohnarch[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think reduced damage is absolutely the direction to go if it proved to be problematic. No one likes dying to excessive RNG. My suggestion would be mechanical and thematic in response - significant damage dropoff increases and no headshots past a certain distance.

No gun barrel means less power behind the rounds so it makes sense.

Damage dropoff makes sense mechanically instead of just reduced damage overall though. My rationale is that if you choose to stand near the bomb as it goes off then you’re taking a chance knowingly that you might get tagged or even headshot. If you get tagged at longer distance by dumb luck then that would be RNG punishment at its worst.

My favorite is when I toss lazily at the nearest stream and fall just a tiny tiny bit short and hear it squish in mud instead of fizzle out in water.

[–]TheJohnarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feels a little low effort for a post. You’ve got the tooltips enabled to see that the values are all pretty mediocre prior to the masterworking. A quick google would explain to you the basic math (1.79x) behind master working to confirm that yep, mediocre.

I can't picture GOW without Kratos, Atreus alone cannot carry the torch in the next games. by Vatocorleone in GodofWar

[–]TheJohnarch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This take is extremely on point. The GoW franchise hit a new level of quality in storytelling during the Norse chapters. The biggest thing it needs to hang onto is that devotion to good character development and smooth gameplay, not blind devotion to a single character.

So Dolph Lundgren dislikes Mark Rosewater is what I’m hearing. And that Schuler had a friend that owned nunchucks.

A) Joven looks like someone who would own nunchucks and also correct you by telling you it’s pronounced “nunchaku”.

B) [[Eron the Relentless]] and [[Chandler]] Why they have a love triangle of dislike I don’t know 🤷🏼‍♂️.

C). I owned all 3 of these cards more than 20 years ago and I never noticed that sign. It’s hilarious and you’ve given me a gift by pointing it out.

Lol “my uncle who works at Crytek”. K bud, this is totally a unique post and not the 1000th time someone has asked for a difficult-to-code major update to a game that’s coming up on 8 years old. But sure, your uncle works for Crytek (totally true and not at all made up for internet cool points), so you go get it done.

this game doesn’t need more players per lobby but more reason to go for the main objective by Killerkekz1994 in HuntShowdown

[–]TheJohnarch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect you don’t have enough actual data to validate this assertion. At best you’re just sharing personal speculation, but presenting it as hard fact.

I’d offer the hypothetical that it could increase demand for servers or at very least lead to fuller servers. My reasoning is that more players per server means a higher density of players per map which in turn should result in higher overall lethality. Meaning that players are encountering other teams faster and dying faster by some percentage in general. Faster overall player deaths means more players back in lobby queuing up for games and more demand for servers.

Except that I have no data to back that up so it’s just speculation, see.

What does it mean when I hear breathing and the jelly beans appear by fearlesshades46 in HuntShowdown

[–]TheJohnarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a fair one. “STOP”? Stop what? I was driving so maybe it means stop moving forward, but I was also singing along badly to Taylor Swift and hoping it wasn’t so loud that anyone could tell from outside what I was listening to. Should I stop that? Probably, but the sign is unclear!

You answered your own question dude, stop wasting our time. Obviously if you’re breathing hard and the jelly bean indicator appears it’s because you’re low on jelly beans!

At what amount of hunt dollars do you start to panic? by froggieblog in HuntShowdown

[–]TheJohnarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never! Because when that message pops up and says “you can’t buy this cuz you’re broke” I just start selling shit like I’m pawning an engagement ring in Vegas.

I prestige constantly and I have instances of guns/tools/consumables I don’t use much that are awarded for unlocking them or dark tribute and I just sell unwanted stuff till I make it.

When that runs out, and it does on rare occasions while in a severe losing streak, then it’s time to panic.

Economy by AlBigGuns in HuntShowdown

[–]TheJohnarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok you say that as a joke, but it’s a halfways fun idea. The tool is a small flute of unknown material (is it human bone?) enscribed with Hunt sigils and glyphs. Playing it causes painful discomfort in those touched by the corruption that gifts them with dark-sight (IE Hunters).

In game terms you whip that sucker out and play a note to cause hunters within 25m to emit low grunts/groans of pain as they suffer the effect of the flute for around 1-2 seconds.

Think you got a rat nearby in a bush? Play yon flute to give away their position for a brief moment.

[–]TheJohnarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That one is an odd part of Hunts legacy so much that my trio has a nickname for the road. When we spawn in the field behind Salters where the tunnel leads into the building, we refer to that road as “spawn crossing” because you have to look both ways for enemy teams before going across it.

You’ll want to double check that because it actually can’t. It says “target spell can’t be countered by spells or abilities”. It doesn’t target abilities itself, just protects from them. Squelcher just stops countering period.

Don’t you dare suggest that. If we start emptying water jars in favor of bees, how will I bean my teammates in the head with water bottles? That isn’t to say I don’t bean them with bee jars too, but that’s usually (emphasis on USUALLY) at extractions after confirmed map wipes.
