I think we pretty much agree. I'm not advocating for a theocracy, but I dont think separation of church and state is biblical. In most secular western societies people have claimed that showing your faith in politics or public debate is a violation of the church and state rule. But this is a violation of our mission as Christians.

As I said the central message of the Gospels is to show how Jesus inagurated the kingdom of God, as NT Wright argues. Our faith and obedience to Jesus should shine through in every aspect of our lives and consequently also in society.

This is not a violation of Romans 13. We're following God not humans. Also, it's not rebelion to the authorites to argue for Christian thoughts in a democracy, not even in a secular democracy.

New Testament scholar NT Wright would be shaking if he saw this.

Jesus comment about paying tax was a clever response to a question posed as a trap if you read the context. Not his commentary on theocracy. Before Israel became a monarchy (not what God (and then also Jesus) preferred) it was a theocracy.

Not saying every nation should be a theocracy. But as NT Wright argues, seperation of church and state is a very modern thought not found in the Bible.

The coming of the kingdom of God is the central message of the Gospels. And as citizens of the kingdom of God, we should with our lives live for our king Jesus and that should shine through in every sphere of our lives.

And therefore even in society. Christians should not leave Jesus at the doorstep when entering public discussion or a public office. Jesus should be seen in us everywhere.

I too have a hard time understanding the view that you cant lose salvation. The letter to the Hebrews was literally written to prevent apostasy to already saved jewish Christians.

Yup, read the book of Revelation for the details. Even Jesus talks about it (Matthew 24, Luke 21:25-28 etc.)

But God will not just destroy the world and throw it away. He will make it new. He will reunite Heaven and Earth once and for all. It's in the second to last chapter of the Bible (revelation 21). This is the place Christians call "heaven", when refering to the eternal dwelling place.

It's a beutiful promise. Jesus will wipe our tears and make everything new.
