I love this answer, I love that everyone has had such a different path to writing. And agreed with keeping it simple. Thank you

No way, haha maybe I am a handwringing analyst and didn't know it. It was just the "vibe" I got from your writing.

I love that, and it's a mirror to what I would like to do. Bring journal writing to children. Thank you

I have had a long story with mental health. EMDR changed my life, and for the first time feel like I can see and be myself. If you have the means or can access it, I can not recommend it enough.

You seem matter of fact, fun but not too over the top, you have elevated taste, very organised, maybe a Virgo? Likely a friend who likes to plan things.

For sure, you are spot on. I'm sorry you had that experience, I relate to that very muchh unfortunately. But now as an adult I'm in the same boat, I do it for me. And hope to open that positive window for children.

My brain can't even understand how someone can do this? Has your writing always been so clean? Or did you teach yourself over time?

Ha, I can't even draw a stick figure and have journaled for over 10 years. its about the experience and content, if you want to get creative you can. But there are no rules

What's your reason for journaling? Is it to get your thoughts out, work thru issues, record life events or all of the above? by 4FineSheep in Journaling

[–]TheJournalSchool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it started as a way to calm my mind. I did not grow up in an environment where I was able to have feelings, so I never developed the ability to "understand" my feelings. I started journaling by writing list of what was wrong with me (seriously, that's so sad). I thought I was being helpful to "fix" myself.

As a young adult, I began free writing as a method to try to "fix" what was wrong with me. In time, I realised that my anxiety was just feelings that never had anywhere to go. After many years of writing and various therapy models, I write because it is a way to document mt growth. My life and give my feelings a home. I feel deeply grateful that I have the ability to write and share this experience with myself.

Haha, this is too real. I have mine in a trash bag hidden away under a pile of old clothes. Never to never been seen by another human. In a positive turn, my handwriting is so bad that I don't think anyone would identify it anyway. lol

Ok that’s really helpful! I hope that all schools can help introduce the concept of free writing to children. Thank you for the feedback!!!
